Hi as you have seen my title. Im a newbie and having trouble leveling and earning zeny at the same time. Trying to build mechanic hopefully for greed skill in the future. Im still a merchant though. I need help in building my gears to maximize looting and leveling. Tanky and can hunt.

In my opinion, there is no way for this game to earn zeny while leveling as beginner. 

 

you need some gears or skill to level. 

 

or you need to depend on your luck when have a chance to defeat some monster which contains valuable card.

 

collecting materials may help a little bit of earning but not much because you will pass that map fairly soon comparing farming it 24/7. 

 

for Merchant, my experience told me it was one of the tough job to level because of lacking AOE skill or high damage. However, this may not be true. you need to google online for leveling specifically for merchant type. there might be some videos showing leveling tips for this job.

This is one of the main reasons for recommending the archer, among other ranged classes that kill before taking damage.

For levelling merchant, this is where you should go

Lv 11-25: Spores / Muka / Peco (Eden quest)
Lv 25-40: Bigfoot / when you get cart revo from job lv 30, kill Elder Willows
Lv 40-70: Orcs (Get eden gears) / alternatively you can mob in Sunken Ship Lv 1 against Pirate skels

And from lv 70 you may start greed in low TIs

There is a cheap alternative. Earth Deleter / Undead Grudge Knight for SP and Sky Deleter for HP. Those cards are cheap from vend shops.

FYI

The gears that leech %hp %sp are terrible for beginners thats end game luxury equipment!

 

Maybe try Catherina Von Blood [1] this item should be in cash shop and not vanguard for 1500 or maybe a weaker version with no set bonus.

Your best bet is to make a alt account priest.  why? Well the HP and SP gears are all % based and your damage is so low for first and high class trans they are basically worthless with low proc chance and low leech. Your first 100m could be spent better.

 

Just make a priest follow you unlimited heals kyrie bless agi up until you find someone to play with, join a active guild, check out RO discord, or ask your steam friends who quit after Re:start to come back to there account.

 

As for specific gears, I'm not to sure but all builds of all classes on RO will need raydric/deviling garment, shadow, holy, wind, water, ghost, fire armor; as well as, elemental weapons.

 

Flat +m/atk gear is generally the best stat for mid range gear until endgame where % scaling linear gear reaches the flat +m/atk apex  to surpass it. 

 

Next best stat is probably +Aspd flat better for low Agi or +% Aspd better for high AGI

 

then vit or dex depending on your breakpoints for stun immunity, casting speed etc.

 

Try +5 sp cards after kill on physical for physical aoe/skill spammer builds.

I have some in payon for sell. 

 

 

As for making money

Cash shop lol. 

Farm high loot areas 

Find something the Prontera market is lacking and sell it?

 

For example, I just returned last week and noticed its hard to find mid lvl elemental gear maybe sell some elemental weapons for lvl 30-120 range could of made 20+mil off me.

All I could find where 500m gears and the crimson weapons but they are high lvl req 70 and low base atk. I was looking for elemental stunners fyi lvl 27 with 140 atk and 5% stun.

Best way to earn Zeny is to spend Cold Cash( real money) as you can trade or sell the rare ones--if you're lucky enough.

 

For leveling try getting a Crimson Axe with Hunter Fly Card, as it can give you Free HP Heal, freeing your from using Hp Potions more frequently,

---thus saving you some Zeny
