I'm new to RO, have been leveling as an auto-falconer which has been pretty easy and fun so far.   I was GONNA just transition into an auto-warger based on info from the wiki, but now I'm hearing that it's mainly for end-game and needs expensive gears?  Is this true?  Should I reset into a pure AS build before I change to ranger?

I want to be able to solo content/quests/mvps.  I heard about dungeons and instances, etc...is it to early to be thinking about those?

Auto-Warg/Hawk is not particularly valid for end-game anymore due to most late-game gear and OCP gear being focused on Arrow Storm (AS)/Focused Arrow Strike (FAS)/Aimed Bolt (AB). Even with Fear Breeze, it would be especially difficult to level when mobs increase in amount with each having millions of HP. I would review this guide (pinned in this forum section) by Nagaame for extremely good information: https://forums.warpp...-for-250-patch/

Personally, I would recommend AS as it is probably the easiest (and cheapest for gear) to level for a long time -- I had the f2p White Wing Set+Big Crossbow+Autumn Headband and got to 175 easily before picking up more costly stuff. After that, things get a bit tougher without some of the expensive OCP stuff like Ignis Type K set to spam AS with. Alternatively, if you are aiming for end game, you could focus on FAS instead which is a valid for leveling but a littler trickier compared to AS. Just note that you will absolutely want to buy an enchanted/enchant a middle costume with the Sniper Stone (Middle) and buy Crit damage increasing gears if you go this route!

It all really depends on your funds for gears but I would change over to AS or FAS if possible as you hit Ranger. Note that you can stat yourself like FAS for end game but still easily level with AS due to how strong it is and how easy it is to gear for early on; I am statted for FAS with more LUK than DEX or AGI and can level easily with AS.

Thanks for the reply!  I didnt realize how bad autowarg was, I was looking forward to playing it.  :(

Well I put some points into FAS and am pleasantly surprised how strong it is.  So since my stats are close to a FAS build< i'm leaning towards that.  (at lv 96 I have 90agi, 38vit, 20int, 70dex, and 48luk).  How are those stas?  Should I start pumping luk to 90?  What about vit to survive?

And can I solo level with this, or do I need to group up?

Keep in mind with all this, I'm f2p and won't be spending any real money.

EDIT....isn't FAS stats almost the same as a normal auto-warger?

Luckily, as you mentioned, Auto-Warg/Falcon (gonna type it as AWF) and FAS rely on similar stats so you'll probably still end up with a solid AWF build with your FAS build. However, AWF will want more STR/AGI for weight/ASPD while FAS requires more INT for cast reduction+SP. Also, FAS is an AOE attack where AWF is single target making FAS superior for leveling. Partying is always beneficial but since the game is more solo these days, that's why I'd push the FAS route which will be more efficient overall, especially since you can use FAS in between your AS cooldown.

Your choice but, if you want to be as effective as possible, I might recommend one of your free stat resets before hitting lv99 from the Clown in Eden 1F (all the way to the left but might need to confirm since it has been a while) to:

  • STR = 1
  • AGI = 90
  • VIT = 1 or 30
  • INT = 1 or 30
  • DEX = 90
  • LUK = 30 or 60

I say "or" because I don't know your leveling style or gear. DEX should always be a primary focus for your raw damage and skill cast time. More LUK = more potential damage with FAS (since it Crits based off your CRIT stat) but that leaves you needing more pots for HP+SP. AGI is fun to pick enemies off, but you could actually run a pure FS/AS damage build with 1 AGI and maxing DEX while putting even more into VIT/INT/LUK which would probably level you faster. Again, it really comes down to the gear you have/can get to truly define your stats.

You will want to hit 120 DEX sooner than later but feel out your needs based on the above. LUK will be important for FAS, especially if you can pick up cheaper items like Ring of Silver Claw, cards like Aunoe, or Crit Enchant Stones to up its damage. Then INT, VIT, AGI for survivability and cast/attack speed. STR only really helps with carrying arrows.

Since you are f2p, I recommend getting the "No Limits" skill ASAP as Ranger and getting the Elven Bow w/ Elven Arrows+White Wing Suit+Gray Wing Boots+Prism Scarf since they are cheap enough to work towards. If money is a big issue, at least the full White Wing set (Suit+Manteu+Boots+Brooch) since you can make your own/buy super cheap and they significantly boost AS for leveling. Sniping Suit will also be another super cheap body option to look at if the White Wing is outside your range, and I don't know if it is viable but Falken Blitz+Little Feather Hat were old items that boosted FAS so may be cheap if you can find them on the market?

Hope this helps!

Thanks, yeah I see how AOE farming will be faster.  I will look for that reset NPC before I turn into ranger.

My main issue I think now will be gettimg zeny for equips.  I'm so lost with all the new equips there are, and am still trying to figure out how to make enough zeny to buy them all, as well as sp pots (unless I can manage to get an sp recovery hat)

What gear are you running right now? I can look through storage for some old Sniper equips I'll probably never use again to send you if you wanna tell me your in-game name (so I can RODEX mail them to you).

---

Otherwise, are you doing the Eden Gear quests? They are pretty solid for f2p up to 100 (or maybe beyond?): https://irowiki.org/...uipments_Quests

After that, you'll want to do the Main Quest Episode content starting with The Royal Banquet at lv100 ( https://irowiki.org/...e_Royal_Banquet ) to get Honor Tokens to trade in for more solid 100+ f2p Noblesse Gear: https://irowiki.org/...lesse_Equipment

This will lead to to the next main quest, which has its own set of f2p gears, and so on for levels 125, 130, 160 that should keep you geared to save your zenny for OCP gear in the future!

Yeah, I have all the Eden equips, and will hit 99 soon.  When I get to 100 I'll do that Royal Banquet quest.  What is OCP gear?

OCP = Overseas Care Package. It's RO's gacha-like system where you spend real money for Kafra Points (KP) to buy randomized loot boxes for small chances to get powerful equipment you can't get anywhere else. Basically, it's the best endgame gears but you either need real money to buy or tons of zenny to purchase from players.

Not sure when but keep an eye out on your RODEX and I will search through my old equipment for you  :no1:

The advice in this thread is mostly correct for its time yet outdated and missing some nuance.

To stop being a broke newbie you may actually want to consider an Auto-Hawk build.  Forget the damage, that's not its main feature until the new Wind Hawk class which does make it a viable end game skill.  Even as a hunter and through to ranger, the best use case of Blitz Beat and related skills is to purchase time to do other actions while also doing decent damage.   *Slaps my hawk* the hordes of mobs that you can control with this thing ..

How do you mean?

With or without cards/good equipment, Arrow Shower is still the superior way to level until Sniper due to mobbing and clearing with a guaranteed AOE. Blitz Beat proc is based off your LUK, meaning less DEX+INT, and (unless something changed) doesn't get damage increases from any modifiers and you need Job 40+ to get all 5 strikes. Then, when you become Sniper, Arrow Shower and Focused Arrow Strike are better options again, for same reasons -- if going for a FAS build, you'll be getting LUK eventually anyway so you could have Auto-Falcon as a bonus but it's just not reliable enough in my opinion and you're buying more arrows overall so more zeny and more STR needed to carry said arrows. Especially since the f2p gearsets starting at 100 boost FAS (or f2p Mora gearsets boosts Arrow Storm), there's just not a good reason to be Auto-Falcon anymore until that specific Auto-Hawk Wind Hawk build.

Auto-Hawk slaps with just 30-50 LUK and high AGI/DEX.  Even slightly good movement is rewarded with a hybrid of high damage-per-arrow and aoe.

Our guy specifically asked for builds for a broke newbie, and auto-hawk is basically free.  Basic arrow + hawk is strong enough to handle yourself in 95%

of situations a newb can find themselves in with zero damage and conservative skill use.  the typical Arrow Shower spam is going to cost all your SP and

you'll be gnoshing grapes like it's a Sunday picnic.

does INT affect arrow shower damage in some way  ,  or is that just for the SP regeneration ?
