Hi! Just got back from a break of like 10 years, and I have no idea how people do damage in 500k+ increments. How do you guys do it?

I'm currently a level 160 warlock using comet + release (+7 staff of destruction, temporal dex boots, and +9 crown of deceit). I'm at turtles and teddy bears hitting about 100k per cast. They have so much hp that I'm having trouble killing them before they kill me.

I don't see how to break into numbers as high as I'm seeing from other players at both illusion dungeons.

*also have a level 160 rk, but numbers are also low.

Most things have changed since you quitted. Alot of OCP items were added into game. There are some cheap OCP sold in the market since there are some latest OCP that outperformed. However the cheap OCPs still contribute huge dmg in game and more players possessed these equipments.

You may refer to Comet skill wiki. There is information on how to increase the damage

https://irowiki.org/wiki/Comet

Same goes to Dragon Breath / ignition break RK build. I suggest you look more into each of the class threads to know the latest equipments. You can also search some youtube iRO videos that some of them has warlock/arch mage showing equipment list to reach such xxx K damage

It's really not hard to believe since you've been gone for so long.

I also don't understand what you need help in...leveling? Gearing? Not caring about other peoples damage? Idk.

My best advice for you as someone who plays the game constantly, question whether it's worth coming back since you have missed so much, because playing the game is easy it's the information that's going to hinder your progress going forward.

But if you are going to take it seriously then play at your own pace don't worry about some nobodies damage focus on yourself as selfish as that sounds and you'll be fine.  :no1:

Sounds like It's mainly gear he needs help with.

To OP, he's right about the amount of knowledge you need to learn/catchup on.

I'm not sure about what the current best gear is for a warlock, but I can point out how most other jobs get that type of damage.  The key culprit for the few jobs that got high end versions, are the Job rings. Take the "Ring of Phoenix" for example: The ring does a ton of stuff, but the effect that matters in this discussion, is makes Rapid Smiting do 1% more damage for each base lv your char has. Equip 2 of them, and the damage goes up real fast.

There's also other gear that increases damage by a flat percent ingeneral, such as the stylish silent shoes(these are insanely cheap atm, if you decide to get back into the game, you should get 1, it works for both physical, and magic), ect.

I have basically all the best equips for my RG, and he has done over 674k damage, when I'm only like lv 148

Ingeneral, if you wants specifics on what's the best gear for a certain job+build, you should make a post in the class section. They should give you a good idea on what's the current meta for your char.

community job class discussion is kinda dead. people share most of them on discord nowadays. better for returning people to look for discord communities, their general chat is usually fast responded and people are helpful.

Didn't realize there were still replies coming in!

My quick update is that I:

  • Looked up the skills on irowiki to see what equips I might need to up the damage
  • Bought Stylish Shoes and Catherina Von Blood, like Zoltor suggested
  • Made a soul linker and got the recommended equipment
  • Realized I can actually do turtles now!
  • Just got to 160 with my soul reaper and it's been really fun!
