I recently went through this. Although I can only advise up to level 170, my advice would be:
Quests:
- 20th Anniversary Event Quest [Start in Hugel]: Gives a ton of experience and two costumes that increase the exp gained.
- Royal Banquet, Terra Gloria, and Illusion Questlines: These give you free equipment up to level 150 and coupons that give you free +9 upgrades to them.
Hunting/Turn-In Quests:
- Talk to Joel in West Prontera Inn and register to hunt Illusions. This will give you access to the daily 100 monster hunt turn ins in illusion dungeons and will provide you with the biggest chunk of exp.
Illusion dungeons become accessible at different levels and have 150 monster hunt turn ins (repeat all you want, no cooldown) plus daily quests. These give smaller chunks of exp than the 100 monster hunt versions, so I treat these more as extras. I mainly go to the dungeons for the 100 kill count. Give these a shot, then add or drop whichever turn ins seem to have a good return on time.
- Illusion of Moonlight [Payon at Level 100+]: Easy time here
- Illusion of Frozen [Ice Dungeon at Level 120+]: Difficulty depends on how well you can handle gazettis with their machine guns.
- Illusion of Vampire [Geffen Dungeon at Level 130+]: Easy time here
- Illusion of Teddy Bear [Einbech Mines at Level 150+]: Medium hard for me since I am squishy and there is a trigger happy, storm casting lunatic yellow teddy bear. There is also a blue one that loves to explode.
- Illusion of Abyss Turtle [Turtle Island at Level 150+]: I take one at a time. Use the good samaritan players that afk level there to shield you from big mobs if you have problems.
