One of the problems that we have had in the past in THQ dragonica was that players would change guilds before the EW tournament in order to participate multiple times. The lack of a wait period before you could enter a new guild resulted in a lot of temporary alliances and the same players getting to participate over and over again. While I like the concept of the new mercenary system, I feel that it reintroduces the same problem that we had before.

The following is simply for awareness purposes, as similar events have taken place in THQ dragonica, and I believe we will likely have similar problems eventually.

Idiots guide to rigging EW:

Spoiler

Solution:

I would like to propose implementing a system where you must use a ticket in order to be able to enter the EW tournament. There would be two types of tickets. Combatant Tickets and Mercenary Tickets. In order to play in the tournament, you must have one of these two tickets.

combatant ticket
1) allow you to play in every match of the tournament and fight for your guild.
2) sent/given to players who have met the requirement of being in the same guild for a certain length of time (length up for debate)
3) expires once tournament is over (or after 3 days)

mercenary ticket
1) allows you to be a mercenary for one match of the tournament
2) sent/given to players who have met the requirement of being guildless for a certain length of time (same length of time as tournament ticket)
3) disappears after being used and if not used expires once tournament is over (or after 3 days)

Players can acquire their ticket for the week as long as they have stayed with their guild/guildless for the required length of time.

Feel free to post any other suggestions relating to changes you would like to see in the EW tournament here.

Limiting the player selection does not accurately portray the guild's potential, imo. Not to mention, a quick workaround is to use an alt and just transfer the equips over. I don't think limiting someone's participation in emporia really helps this game, as there's already very limited amount of things to do in the game at higher levels. If not for emporia, then why would players bother improving their equipment? PVE isn't enough of a reason for anyone to enchant armor, as it's not challenging to begin with. It would definitely persuade people to enchant and soulcraft less, resulting in lower profits for the company. I'm sure most people already know that battlesquare is a joke since all you need is one person really to carry the entire team.

If a guild wants to improve, then they should just work for it like how all the other guilds did; at that point, they would be able to compete with the current emporia winners. Making it easy mode by limiting participation doesn't really allow for anyone to improve. In the end, it'll end up with more players with overinflated egos as you can see in the most recent incident. With the introduction of even more of these types of people, the community will just end up with more hatred and drama than there currently is.

Also, the issue with people leaving just for a single match has already been addressed with the waiting time before being able to join another guild. I think you may be surprised at how many people are not willing to leave the guild every week just to guarantee the castle. Speaking for myself, I left it just to try and solo to see how far I would get, but I already find myself bored without the guild to talk with. I certainly wouldn't be able to put up with it every single week.

I took out part of the end of the first post. I'm fine with people being able to participate every week if they stay with their guild. If they want to mercenary they should have to stay guildless. Otherwise, the mercenary system is terribly broken. I thought that THQ had it's EW matches spaced out more (one in the middle of the week instead of just on weekends). I don't feel that a 3 day wait period is an adequate deterrent to keep people from guaranteeing both castles. As you said, I might be surprised by the number of people who wouldn't be willing to leave their guild every week, but unless you mean that there is no one who is willing to leave their guild, then there is still an issue.
