We all hate lag, just like we all hate exciting catalyst lagfest with the worm dragons. Anyways here's a basic guide to make it so you have little to no lag. The first way to eliminate some lag is just to have a good computer, the lag on my slow 2006 PC is past the point of annoying, though my new laptop has only a little lag. The second way to get rid of lag, which is best one to do, is to click system in the bottom right corner of your screen, you can also press Alt+O, once you have opened the small system screen press game option, then you will be able to change several settings. P.S. this is where you can block whispers, etc. Look for the scroll line that has a green scroller and says performance just above it. The green button will be located somewhere around the middle of the scroll line. Scroll it over all the way left. This will let you do all the same things in the rose, though it just wont have the same details in the background. Just the background changes, all monsters, inventory and stuff still look the same, just the background is different, though it wont affect gameplay. It will change the touch of the mouse, it will make it a little bit more drifty, but its fine, you get used to it within like a day. You can also avoid lag if you dont like any of these ways, one way to avoid is when you are entering junon, don't enter on a cart, or the lag will be worse for right when you enter. It is better to just walk in. Though it doesnt reduce lag, at least from what I know I would suggest using Rescudos Rose essentials just cus its awesome, lol. Also when you are in the option menu if you can change the thing that says 60hz to 75hz.

The only thing that really works (worked for me) is getting a decent gaming pc LOL.

I noticed it's hard to significantly reduce any game lag if your pc is a little " outdated " that is...if you don't want to spend any money on new component like a video card.

But it's not hopeless... You could try my personal fav: Clean reinstalling windows, updating drivers, not downloading random crap or 200 gig of p0rn.

OR

If you dont want to reinstall you Operating System, you can still try the " every cute little thingie helps " method:

- Create a new clean user account on your pc and put it on classic windows theme ( if using XP ).
- Update your drivers
- Get rid of useless progs, defrag your hard drive, delete temp files
- Stop useless progs from running at windows startup
- Optimize ingame settings ( like bluehell said )
- Set refresh rate to 75 Hz
- Use GameBooster
- Etc, etc,...

Just keep in mind you are NOT " boosting " your computer with the above. Only trying to get the best out of your system as if it's new.

A real boosting method would be over-cloaking ( no...not the raider skill xD ) wich means running a computer component at a higher clock rate (more clock cycles per second). But please don't try that, I won't pay for the bills if anything goes " BOEM " xD.

Note: I'm still sceptical about using the program called GameBooster, but it should save you 'round 30 mb of RAM and it shows wich drivers you should update.
Soooo...If you're alrdy lowered yourself to the " every cute little thingie helps " method, it's prolly worth it.

Or you can just get a new computer/labtop, and get a better internet connection.

Pretty much what I pointed out in the first sentence yes :P. Also, I don't think it eats that much of ur interw3bs connection.
