I would simply like less unexpected and unannounced changes in this game. Trying to gear for competitive pvp does suck for the classes that will still have old equips as their best available options for some time (Shamans); however, I think the vast majority of new players will be fine as far as getting gear goes.
The Heirloom BD Invoker set is nice, but it's not required to be an awesome Invoker -- and IMO, it will become obsolete once we get our Secmathian set.
Extra defense is nice and all, but when you have the best healing skills in the game, you don't really need to worry so much about getting hurt -- at least, not any more than any other class, and probably far less than all but pallies. If you enchant ANY armor set to +12 or so, you're going to have enough defense to get by, as long as you play smart.
Our Secmathian set is awesome, and provides for plenty of options with regards to equipment (I can't stress this enough). For once, I think there might actually be different equip "builds" for our class, something we've never really had before (it was always either Chaotic Hera or Heirloom Bone). +15.0% Aim Rate for a 3-piece set bonus, +100.0% Critical Damage for a 5-piece set bonus... Heck, I've even seen some pretty crazy INT stacking w/ the new Chaotic sets (saw at least one person w/ a +12 Heirloom Lightning Oak who had enough INT stacked to nearly match my MATK w/ the same weapon at +17).
The problem, as I see it, is that people are getting too caught up in the OLD standards, and don't realize that none of that will matter much anymore in a few months. The next update is, at least IMO, a game-changer in the sense that it completely throws old standards out the window and opens up a lot of new equipment possibilities -- at both the high- and low-level ranges, and for pretty much every class. Have you guys seen the lower-level Lavalon/Aram equips? Ridiculous, considering the levels they're designed for. Let's not forget the crazy Reign of Frost equips, either -- some of which completely displace most of the old boss equips we've used for so long.
In truth, new players are fortunate in at least one sense -- they haven't blown thousands of gold/powders/souls enchanting and soulcrafting old equips that will soon become outdated -- and I have a feeling old players are going to have a tough time making a profit off of most of those, too, because I doubt many players are going to bother buying them when they can just farm or buy new equips that are more useful.
Yes, new players got the short end of the stick for a while, but IMO, the update will be a fresh start for everyone, for the most part. EVERYONE will be working hard to upgrade their equipment, both new and old players alike.
