It's a 2x event and all, so I decided to finally try bringing a Renewal character up from level 1.

I picked a monk since I know it's 1 of the 4 playable classes. I've given up on casters until we at least get 13.3 sometime in 2012.

There are no leveling map options. Say I'm level 70. I could go to Sphinx 5, and have to deal with matyrs that are only slighter weaker than the pasanas, but give 1/3 of the exp, and anubii which are 10x as strong and give... 1/3 of the exp. I could fight harpies and take massive damage for... pasana exp. Or I could fight grand pecos, which can't really hurt me for... pasana exp. Gee, I wonder what map I'm going to use.

So, there's no way to use skill to level faster... or at all. There's no way to fight anything fun. There's just the chore of more of the same - pick the weakest monster 5-9 levels over you that you can find in quantity, mindlessly slaughter it, repeat for months until 150/50. I can stand it now because it's fast, but I don't think I can make it much beyond 90. For the people who made it to 130,140,150 legitimately - how did you defeat the game's only real enemy - soul-crushing boredom?

i play a 92 sader. it is, as you say, soul crushingly dull.

Atroce does not attack unless he's on you, so you can kite him with Shield Boomerang~ It's pretty exciting trying to run away and not die a terribly painful death! Then you get Gloomy and a Link and you're set. 8D

i play an agi-spear, but i was thinking about making a shield pali if i didn't go for the 90 str 90 dex 90 agi 90 vit build, which i hear is the best

Its 2x EXP and i should be on levelling here but i just don't have the interest anymore its just too boring. I've tried my old favorite, music. I play solitaire, chess, battleships but nothing helps. I've even palmed my game off to my 10 year old son who has wanted to play for at least 4 years. But, less than an hour later he gives it back to me saying he doesn't want to play no more its too boring!!!

I wonder if i could train my dog to play for me????

Find a group of friends and chat about things you hate/like... Your neighbours playing loud music all morning... Or your precious car that just barely getting through it's yearly check-up T_T.

The only reason I join party's or guilds are for getting rid of the endless boredom that is the grinding at high lvls... Chat a line, kill a monster... Chat another line, kill another monster, Repeat endlessly.
That, or just having 25 different characters to keep things fresh.

Leveling in RO can be actually fun!
I tried leveling my bishop (like a real bishop: leeching) with a stalker last saturday. It was fun for like an hour then alt f4ing and not logging for some weeks to keep the insterest in RO. It works great for kads /ok

If you have a priest freind, some 99 mercs, and know where to go, you can level pretty fast. Mobbing is the way to go. If that's not an option, make a char that can kill efficiently and leech your monk with it?

I got to 150 with lots of help from Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson! Listening to my favorite music made time go by so quickly. But I think the best thing was being able to chat with guildies on vent. Although, sometimes vent is empty and I had to settle with chatting up random people wherever I leveled.

NCSI is like the worst show on TV btw. I spent a day in a vegas hotel room recovering from a hangover watching an all-day marathon of it because it was the only thing on TV that wasn't PPV. I will never watch any crime shows again.

Morphing is always good times too.
