I read somewhere not long ago that there would be third level classes put in at some point, and they seem to be an alternative to the rebirth classes. Since I always fight by myself, I'm thinking I might want to go arch bishop as opposed to high priest. Does anyone know if they're better at fighting solo than high priests, or if this class will even exist at all?
Any word on Arch Bishops yet?

Arch Bishop, and all the other 3rd jobs, are part of Renewal (see the link on my sig for more info about Renewal).
First of all, you either have the option to go;
Novice>Acolyte>Priest>Arch Bishop
-or-
Novice>Acolyte>Priest>High Novice>High Acolyte>High Priest>Arch Bishop
Given that in Renewal, getting 1>99 becomes much faster, it is highly recommended that you trans first and become High Priest before changing to Arch Bishop. This way, you get more skill points, access to High Priest skills, and the +25% hp/sp bonus upon transing.
As for soloing, Battle Arch Bishops are quite popular since they get a skill called Duple Light which is basically their version of hindsight. If you're not going battle, caster Arch Bishops get some nice spells as well.

The official statement is that Renewal will be implemented "before the end of the year".
