Rose CPU usage

Using my vend PC as a test subject here, Dual core Celeron e3300 overclocked to 2.9 Ghz, Nvidia 8600 GS & 4gb of Corsair gaming memory.
(all clients minimized & subsequent cpu usage)
It's just odd I can fire up the game and minimize, even if only 1 client, and come back later that night and my CPU usage is 15 to 20 times higher than it was when I left.
Why

for the record: i actually have no i idea why that would happen, but i notice my computer runs louder after having rose up for a while. it should be perfectly capable of handling it with low cpu usage

Also has nothing to do with computer, Rose will eat more and more no matter what you run.

One thing I've always noticed in this game is that your computer will generally run drasticly slower the longer you have had a client running. It's far more extreme in Rose then any other game I've played.
I too have noticed this. Although I haven't been monitoring CPU usage I did notice the game has some memory leaks. Running 2 clients, for both vending and playing for 3+ days, will consume most of my 6GB of memory to a point where windows is asking me to shut down a rose client in order to run Firefox.
As an alternative to what HolyEagle posted try this: Process Explorer

My guess is that it loads more and more things into the game such as characters with different items and such, plus it might be the game isn't 100% optimized for long period runs?

but it will help ur cpu 2 cool down and shut down all unuseable applications !

Along with this, I also don't like how the maps need to be reloaded every time you enter a map, tile by tile.
(they should all download, or allow you to download, and then be accessed by the client via the file folder.)
This would also cut down on CPU Usage.

Hope they can fix it.

It creates temporary storage areas in memory then forgets to close them when they are no longer needed.

Rose needs to call its garbage collector then xO! This issue should be solved. I hope it's not too hard to fix.Rose has always been notorious for memory leaks

Nobody ever bothered to fix it in the last 6 years. I doubt they ever will.
To be honest i think they would need to replace the entire graphics engine to fix it satisfactorily.

It just seems to grab about 80% of whatever RAM you have.
I used to run rose with 126 MB of RAM and it would grab about 100 of them over a period of a day or so.
When I doubled the RAM so rose just doubled the amount of space it filled.

I never had a look at it. Is it that bad?To be honest i think they would need to replace the entire graphics engine to fix it satisfactorily.

It's OK for a few hours.
You only really notice it if you leave characters logged in for days on end vending or whatever.
I never thought of trying to trick the graphics engine into only seeing a smaller portion of your actual memory.
Not quite sure how we could do that but in theory it aught to work

- No more leaving characters logged in to vend
- Saving electric
- Saving me listen to my computer going off all night
- They do this and R.O.S.E can says it going GREEN!

other then that I've never had problems with the leakage cause I dont keep my client open for long periods of time. take breaks, what was it? something like the 20/20 rule...play for 20min and then take a break for 20 secs to look at something else?
also auction house is pretty neat idea but i think the economy would suffer from npc commissions?

cant recall off hand but im pretty sure theres a way to limit cpu/ram on a program using bat commands or regedit. you can also use taskman to set affinity, etc.?

If you want to set your shop during the whole night, then you're screwed .

Simple solution... Auction house
- No more leaving characters logged in to vend
- Saving electric
- Saving me listen to my computer going off all night
- They do this and R.O.S.E can says it going GREEN!
Might solve the memory leak problem but it would introduce a lot of others.
The way that vending works in rose is one of the few things that I think has every other game utterly beaten.
I personally hate auction houses but that's just me I guess.
Let's put it this way.
Scenario 1
I log in and look at all the shops in Junon Polis and a big grin appears on my face as I start browsing for that gun that I want or trying to find somebody who will give me a good price for all the sharp thorns that I've been stockpiling for weeks.
Scenario 2
I log in and there are no shops in Junon Polis because everybody is selling their crap in an auction house. The place is deserted. I've seen more life in a morgue.
After 2 minutes desperately searching for another living person to interact with I despondently log off and go play a different game where there are actually people.
IMO removing player vending in favor of an auction house would kill rose faster than anything else that I can think of.
Now what would be a great idea is if a player could set up a vending shop then log out and have it stay in place.

That would be the best thing ever. Now what would be a great idea is if a player could set up a vending shop then log out and have it stay in place.
