It would be very useful if skills that were autocasted (through gear or otherwise) did not factor into skill delay. In my opinion having an autocast skill shouldn't hinder the user. For example, if we look at the grand peco peco / peco peco card combo the user is hindered by grand peco peco (gloria autocast). When a knight mobs monsters and is being hit it can be difficult to use the skill you need to kill the mob before you die. There's really only a handful of cards this would apply to, but I just feel like passively activated skills shouldn't penalize the ability to use actively activated skills.

Thoughts?

There are ways to deactivate annoying auto-casts. That's good enough for me. Taking away skill delay is really not an option, and it would be dumb to as well for balancing purposes.

Being able to move from using a skill and then auto attacking with the RoFL set would be pretty overpowered if delay did not exist. However, it would be nice if kRO would reevaluate certain skills and their power output compared to their delay. It was rather sad for me to recognize that I could outdamage single target damage with linked hindsight using AoE skills on a Sorcerer. If the delay on lvl 10 bolts wasn't 2 secs, it would be fun to intermix damage, but currently it locks up all skills and does far less. Such ballance issues ruin build dynamics and force everyone down the same road.

I think the aftercast delay is necessary to prevent some items from becoming far too strong. Amon Ra is a good example of a strong autocast thats balanced by its skill delay. With high HP values its essentially 50% less melee damage + 50% endure, that would be far too strong it it didnt have the associated aftercast delay.

It works both ways too though. I sometimes use autocast gear with very small delays (RoR, lesser elemental ring) to override large delays like mobbing with storm gust (a bit outdated now i know). You can also use magic scrolls (kafra or drops from sage worm etc) to override long delays.

If you do insist on using autocast gear with hefty aftercast delays in situations when you also want to manually cast stuff, do what I do and use delay reduction gears. I have no trouble mobbing up venatu on my sorc with Amon boots on since i wear appropriate gear. diablos robe, expert rings etc.

tdlr; plan ahead!
