I'm a new player in RO and after leveling a couple characters into the 80's with nothing but eden gear I feel like I'm completely missing out on the game. I'm playing on the dead/ygg server so there are nearly no shops to purchase forged fists/swords/daggers etc and when there is a rare shop with a fire damascus or something its 2 million zeny or something stupid that I will never be able to afford. Leveling a forging build blacksmith is basically impossible so how am I supposed to take advantage of this content and be able to equip a few characters with at least a couple elemental weapons as a new player?

Leveling a forging BS is not impossible, I've been doing it myself (I cannot make those weapons). If the cost is too expensive for you, try gathering the items necessary to make one and find a forger that is willing to make it for you.

Forged elemental weapons became unpopular with the addition of Sage characters which can endow any weapon for 30 minutes. As then players could use any weapon they liked, including ones carded especially for certain monsters for extra damage + the extra elemental endow damage. Rather than being tied into a weapon that couldn't be carded. It was one of the many things that killed forging smiths, recently they made it so Alchemist class can make Steel etc. so sadly Forgers are just not that desirable anymore. I say that as someone who still has one, I just can't bare to change it for nostalgia xD I feel between Smiths and Alchemists, smiths drew the short straw sometime back when it comes to creating things. They haven't really added anything new for forge smiths in years.

As you're on Ygg, a free server, it should be easy to make a separate free account. Then make a Mage and job change it to a Sage to endow yourself using elemental stones. Mages are pretty cheap to level since they can kill stuff fixed to the ground without getting hit back and only have SP to worry about, no ammo required. And Firewall is a nice easy skill to prevent being hit, even if (like me) you never master the art of Vertical Fire Wall.

Here's a path of weak-to-Fire monsters for levelling a Mage:

Training Grounds -> Mandragora (vend Stems) -> Rockers (or stay at Mandragora) -> Eden Equipment Quest 1 (Desert Quest) -> Muka (vend Cactus Needles) -> Ant Hell -> Eden Equipment Quest 2 (Orc Village Quest) -> Stay at Orc Village (vend Orc Vouchers)-> Grove/Flora (bring any Maneater Blossom from Flora to Eden HQ for their "Level 55~70" turnin quest, easily spammable) or Orc Dungeon Level 1-> Hode or Leaf Cats (to job change, can also turnin Huge Leaf at Eden) or stay at Orc Dungeon/Groves if still going good -> Geographer (turnin Maneater Blossom at Eden) -> Mi Gao or Wood Goblin/Les (vend Stems/Blue Herbs)

You should by then have enough job levels if not more for all the different elements.

Thank you for the suggestion, it sounds like a great idea but I would have to find out what monsters drop the elemental orbs at a decent rate to supply the sage, they seem pretty rare so far. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you for the mage leveling route.

The easiest way if (as on Ygg) you can't buy them from people vending is to hunt Sleepers (81 so probably OK exp/drop rate for your 8x chars) for Great Natures which are 25% drop rate. Plus if you use a thief-type character, Steal skill has no level range penalty. Then use Umbala NPC to break them down to Green Lives for Earth endows. And use the Amatsu NPC to convert the Great Natures into other big stones e.g. Rough Wind, Flame Heart. Then use the Umbala NPC to break those down e.g. Rough Wind into Wind of Verdure for Wind endows. Or you can use the Umbala NPC to convert certain common monster drops into certain elemental stones.
