Ive been doing the quest to job change to sage, and when it gets to the Thesis part, he takes my items and then doesnt give me the book, anyone know why? i have the biology prof

Yep, sounds like a bug to me. Open a ticket on support.warpportal.com

That happens if you fail the written essay test portion. He eats up your items and you'd have to collect the items in order to write the essay again. Follow the iROwiki guide closely.

"In this instance unlike the other two professors, you won't need to choose the options in order to write the essay. Simply keep pressing enter until the professor finishes your essay.
14. Once you've finished your essay, you'll be given a book and will be instructed to show your thesis to the Dean of the Magician Academy. Go head over to the Sage Castle on the top left-hand island as shown in the map above and hand the dean your thesis. He will then change your job to Sage."

this is what irowiki says and after i finish the essay,which i did pass, he doesnt give me the book

Have you tried to visit the dean and see if he changes you?
