Hey so I was wondering, with this whole renewal thing whats different now about the mage/sage classes in terms of what're sages still good for, how mechanics and formulas for dmg may be different(if that changed), what was changed in terms of how dex affects cast time now, and this new skill cooldown thing is kinda annoying lol.

Renewal's kinda really got me lost on whats going on now (since I've not played in almost 2 years and haven't kept up with info on RO here). I think what annoyed me the most was how so many monsters were not where I remember them (and they give diff exp now) so I had to wander around for new solo spots, but w/e lol.

Any help & info in regards to these renewal changes would be much appreciated ^.^

Actually the new method of leveling is kind of the only thing I pretty much like about renewal. I mean it was kinda lame before how you could hunt Geographers for like 30 levels. Not to get the best experience bonus, of a 140%, is to hunt monsters +10 levels above you. You can still get 100% exp from monsters anywhere from -5 lvls below you to +15 Above you however if you go beyond that you only get like 40% and it diminishes the farther out you go.


As to how Sages have changed I am not really sure as I don't play Sage that much though i do have one. Sages I know got super beefed up though and their 3rd class of Sorcerer just makes Wizzies 3rd class Warlock just want to sit down and cry. Take a look below to how they totaly messed around with Cast time. It's just way to much tbh. I mean with the way the messed it up, why the hell did they put in Fixed times that Dex and Int cannot reduce?!?! I mean to get rid of Variable cast time you would have to have 190 Int and 170 Dex or 170 Int and 180 Dex, that's how bad it is.

Also Magic Attack another really bad change. Before the main contributing factor of this was your Intelligence. The wands and things only boosted your damage by a % of what you would normally do. Now they just add more damage than your intelligence does lmao.

1 Int = 1.5 Magic attack
5 Dex = 1 Magic attack
3 Luk = 1 Magic attack

I mean my High Wizard listed below has 99 Base Int and 60 Base Dex atm and is using a +7 Soul Staff.
The Int and Dex give him about a total of 200 Magic attack. The +7 Soul Staff gives him +235 Magic attack.

IMHO any char who can get the Int/Dex up to like 170/180 or 190/170 has earned the right to instant cast spells.


Also they redid how Def and MDef works so much that i just don't understand it really anymore.

I'm not sure it's even possible...

Let's try and calculate with things less than 12M: 120 int and 120 dex as base points.

2597 status points at level 150 (http://irowiki.org/wiki/Stats). "Raising a stat from 1 to 120 costs a total of 1079 stat points."

120 int and 120 dex requires: 1079*2 = 2158
2597 - 2158 = 439 left
439 - 9*2 - 10*3 - 10*4 - 10*5 - 10*6 - 10*7 - 8*8 = 107 left and 68 vit

Warlock job bonus: +10 int, + 6 dex, +4 vit

VIP: +7 int, +7 dex

Siroma Icetea: +20 dex for 30 min
Wug Blood -_-tail: +20 int for 30 min
Blessing: +10 int + 10 dex for 4 min

So far we have 167 int and 163 dex. 163*2 + 167 = 493. 37 away from the 530 we need.

Glove + zerom = 4 dex (orlean's glove is another possibility, but that's 90M each...) => 37-8 = 29
Wizardry staff + spiritual ring = 8 int 5 dex => 29-8-10 = 11
Ulle's cap + isilla = 2 dex 2 int => 11-6 = 5
Odin's blessing + Dame of Sentinel (72 vit = 4 dex) => 5 - 8 = -3
Garment
Footgear

It's doable I guess, but you really need those food + blessing. And there's still this annoying 20% fixed...

Well, off to solo my sage those last few lvls to 99 now, lol. I do kinda like how much less exp it seems to take now to lvl. I gained 3 levels in 2 days (91-94), whereas before renewal I was grinding for weeks on end just to go from 90-91 xD

The grind is waiting for you down the line at 3rd class. :)

So, how viable a battle sage is with renewal?

Thinking of building one. Stats wise it'll look like this:

STR 50
AGI 90
VIT 10
INT 70
DEX 50
LUK 1

Should i switch INT/AGI?
Any recommendations?

Go int/agi with kahii link spouse instead. Without link go caster instead. A battle build with str and no link takes a while to get good as you need enough dex to connect your physical attacks and enough str to make them worth it - at the same time the 1-3 bolt hindsights are pretty pitiful.
