Hey guys- I came back to RO a few days ago to find that renewal was here.. I had NO idea that it was already here (I didn't stay informed); I got my 99 sniper to ranger, and I have a few questions. I've been trying to piece through random bits of info from other posts, but it's very disorganized.

1) Falcon for ranger- useless?
2) I've always been a bow user, and will focus on bow skills no matter how much better traps may be. 120 dex/120 agi- does this have any use?
3) CAST TIME SUCKS! So... is it actually possible for a ranger to get insta-cast now?
4) Warg skills- what effects the damage? Str/dex?
5) Is it just me, or was my 99 sniper way better than my 102 ranger?
6) Oh, and I've been reading about how stronger weapons are better than, say, 4 slotted composite bows. Does this mean I would be better off getting something like an Ixion's bow, as apposed to a composite bow with race/size/element cards? Also, with 1 slot, what would be the best card to put it in it? Race size or element?

I think that's all I got for now.. sorry for my renewal noobishness and all the questions and thanks to whoever can answer!

Since nobody seems to know.. ahem! I managed to answer a few through my own experience over the past few days...

1) Not completely useless, but didn't expect the job level going back to 1 to effect the autoblitz amount. I know it seems intuitive, but I guess I forgot it happens since it had been so long.

2) No idea

3) Still don't know, but I'm starting to think not.

4) Don't know

5) My 99 sniper pre-renewal was faster and had insta-cast, but the new skills definitely make the ranger a better bow user in the long run (at least, I hope)

6) Comparing a quad titan comp bow and a kingbird elven bow against ice titans, the elven bow did more than the comp by several hundred damage.

1) You can't have a falcon and a warg out at the same time. So if you want warg skills, yes. If you are taking other stuff, no.

2) More Dex is always better for damage. Not sure about AGI, but it will help your ASPD, since getting to 190 is VERY tough. But if you're using skills, Aspd isn't as important as say, INT. So maybe 120 DEX, then AGI and INT?

3) There is no way for anyone to get instant cast now, they changed it so the lowest you can go on casts is 20% of the cast time. DEX does help with that, but so does INT, as well as some gears.

4) Dunno there. If it's based on your ATK, then it's DEX if you use a bow, maybe with a bit of STR involved. Easy way to test: Put on a crappy bow/other low ATK weapon, use warg skills, put on nicer ATK weapon, use warg skills again.

5) No idea there, I suppose it's a matter of preference.

6)Straight ATK is now better than cards, yes. Personally, if you don't use skills, for a 1 slot bow, I'd get either straight ATK cards, or ones that give you a higher ASPD, over racial ones. But then, I don't like switching bows out all that much.

1) Yes, if you're a luk hunter/sniper/ranger. Warg strike out-damages blitz beat.
2) Getting 120 on any stat is kinda a waste, since it'll take you a lot of points in which can be put into other stats. Maxing dex OTOH isnt a bad idea though.

4) Warg teeth and your atk (not sure on the atk part)
5) Rangers have -1 aspd compared to sniper. That's why sniper looks a little bit better.
6) Not sure but renewal dmg formula makes racial cards useless.

1) Falcon is useless.

2) 120 dex is a waste of stat points. You are better off just leaving dex at 100 and using the rest of the stat points into luck, int, or vit. In renewal, there is no longer a huge bonus for having str/dex in multiples of 10. Some people put 120 agi into their builds since the Sniper Googles headgear gives +1 flat aspd when base agi is 120.

3) Nope.

4) Warg Teeth and ATK.

5) If you are trap build, no.

6) In renewal, the +% element/race cards and element of arrow only affect the ATK you get from weapon/equips/upgrades. The ATK from dex is not affected. The +% ranged (Archer Skeleton, Bow Thimbles) affect both. Due to the card changes, the removal of multiple of 10 stat bonus, and the lack of strong bows, bow rangers are much weaker now.

The best bow currently is the Orc Archer bow with Steel Arrows. When used together, it gives +50% ranged damage (affects both ATK from weapon and dex).

Ok, so would the orc archer bow with steel arrows do more damage than a kingbird elven bow with elemental bonus?

it depends on the property. if it is a level 4 property, then the elven+element does more damage if it's lvl3 property and below it wouldn't. but for all around purposes, OAB+steel arrows still does more damage

OAB+Steel arrows can also be endowed to make it the clear winner in all cases. Elven Bow will be better than OAB when Elven Arrows are added into the game.

As a sniper, get the hunter damage traps and forget about falcon. Also, Wind Walker is useful for giving the whole party faster walking speed if there is no Arch Bishop around.

According to the iRO Wiki, Warg Strike is like the warg version of Blitz Beat. Then, does it also do splash damage and is Falcon Assault stronger than Warg Strike?

If you're not a LUK hunter/sniper (with intention of going for ranger) then yes you can ignore falcon skills altogether (bar falcon eyes pre-req). But looking at traps you just need one point for every trap for ranger trap research skill and only a few are useful enough to max it. Falcon Assault is definately one skill you must stay away from. It used to be nice, but renewal screws it up. Dont invest, waste of points.

Nope, it doesnt do splash damage. I would say they're about the same (FA vs WS).

Yes, AFAIK same mechanics as Auto blitz. INT wont affect dmg output like Falcon, just fyi.
