Friend of mine recently trans'd. I can't buy her gear because there's not really any gear low-enough level on the market. I can't party with her because all my characters are in the 9x range or so. I can't tank things for her because the experience penalty makes it so she's better off fighting pathetic monsters without my help. I also don't have any useful support characters, so...

Is there anything I can do to help her level?

What class? Also, I hear the Eden quests are supposed to give good exp and reasonable starter gear.

Tell her to not change to high acolyte until level 12. Buy the elemental daggers in Einbroch weapon shop (required level is only lv4) and kill spores, boas, wormtails one map east of payon. This way you get an elemental advantage and high attack, otherwise you'll only have a crummy mace to use if you turn to high acolyte at lv4. Then at level 13, you can get her an upgraded chain and go whack ant eggs until 30. Then get an upgraded stunner and go kill at the VIP byalan dungeon. Works best if you have endow.

Of course, if you have better weapons to lend her once she gets to the appropriate levels, that's even better. You can also buy her items that are used for eden item turn in quests. I think they are skel bones, sticky webfoot, and maneater blossoms.

Ah, hm, oops, I told her to change asap because otherwise she would be wasting job experience going from level 7 to 12.

But hm, is there any way that I can like... play with her and help her, other than waiting until she's like level 80 or something?

If you don't have any useful support characters, why not make one with them? Even an Aco can be useful to level with.

Hm, I guess so, but I mean, we only have so many character slots, and most of us already have them pretty much full. If she decides to trans another one of her characters, what do I do then? I can't just keep making new characters to play with her.

If there is anything kRO evidently really really REALLY hates is old players helping new players (trans is almost like making a new character).

They hate it so much they take every measure necessary to make sure you can't help a newbie. Things like renewal exp penalty. (in the future they are even taking enchant blade away).

You could leech him for Eden Quest..just make sure ur friend are in the same screen and same party when u 1 shot all those quest monster..~~

hmmm...well i always found that heal slaving always worked well. Or many even kiteing/tanking a large mob for him/her and let him/her kill each one by one. Make sure you pick something that doesnt change targets. If she can get to around 45 i always enjoyed when my friend tanked and kited beetle kings (like 50 of them) with her homu. Then i would either cart revo or magnum break (Magnum break clip) the mob without getting killed by them. Let me know if any of this helps ^_^

shoulda just had him/her buy a lvl 6 merc and pop it before they transed. can also make an archer and leech him pretty quick.

Make an alt to level with her if you have space. Help her with questing on any character

You could hop on my RK and give them Enchant Blade - it adds like 300 damage per normal attack, it's crazy (and that's why it's being nerfed to be self only), or slave them with the AB...

The only real difference from renewal is that you can't tank people anymore.
Other than that, the analysis would be the same pre-renewal.

I dont see how tanking would slow them down. They wander off kill stuff while you mob the whole map then they can kill a lot of stuff really fast.

The EXP penalty only applies if the higher level actually deals damage to the mob, right?

If you have:
- RK: Enchant Blade as per Azzy
- Priest: Obvious
- Monk: Bless/Agi/Give Spheres/Root tank aggro mobs(won't require hitting)
- Sage: Endows
- Scholar: Endows+give SP
- Bard/Dancer: Plenty of buff music/dances
- Alchemist: Aid Potion
- Sader: Sac, Heal (if have)
- Blacksmith: Adrenaline Rush, Power Thrust

I'm sure I'm missing some stuff. That really only leaves Wizard, Knight, Assassin, Rogue, and Hunter, so you should have plenty of slots. Anything that increases damage or reduces her use of SP for maintenance tasks is going to be helpful. Even making a 'throw away' aco with high int just to help keep her buffs up would be good until she is in range with one of your other characters; if she trans another character, you delete it and make a new one with her. You could even have a couple of characters staggered at different level ranges.

If zeny is no problem, a magnum break clip/nile rose in ant eggs would be great.

-RK would really help, I agree
-Priest increase agi maybe because of faster moving. Buffs aren't really needed in renewal, all monsters are too weak to really need healing over potions.
-Monk increase agi would be good too maybe, same as priest
- Sage endows help, but twice per hour interaction is too few to be considered interaction ^^;
- Scholar: you repeated class, plus I don't think battle acos use SP at all, so nupe.
- Bard/dancer: maybe riff. Other than that, not really useful.
- Alchy:Aid potion would be almost no difference over just the person potting, and you are using the potions anyways.
- Sader: Unless you hare a level 20 or something sader, you can not sac them, because sac is limited to peopel around your own level.

Umm, there isn't much things you can do to help really. But the most useful thing you could do is to offer some chatting to make up for the boring ctrl click for next hours, or maybe really start a new chara.

Wizard = Your heal clip is a full heal, and quagmire and safety wall allow her to fight things she shouldn't be able to handle.
Knight = Soak damage
Sin = Dodge tank
Rogue = Copy Heal
Hunter = Ok, yeah, this one kinda sucks.

Aww, I don't really think it matters what you do. While it won't be anything like it was pre-renewal, it seems like any of the suggestions would help, even if just a little bit. Pick one and go with it - I think the most useful thing you could do is share your time and keep her company, to help make the time fly by faster.

Eden group quests down to lvl 1 is going to happen soon.

Partying to tank works well still, as you can take the damage much better than the squishy nub.

But I too got stung by this as going from 99 -> 1 trans and not able to use any of my gear made me a sad panda.

But Eden Group buffs will help a bit with this. But the most fun is just spending the time with your friend, it may not speed it up, but certainly makes it more fun.

That would be nice to see, not so much for new players going through the training grounds, but for people who have recently trans'd without merc scrolls.

You are grossly underestimating the usefulness of monks as lowbie support.

You can Bless and Agi. If she's battle aco she won't have the points in int to do that effectively herself, and she probably doesn't even have the skills yet if she's as low as you said. At low levels the stats make a difference. Additionally, each spirit sphere you bestow upon her will grant her an additional 3 ATK that never misses (Spirit Sphere). 15 ATK, 10 STR/INT/DEX, Agi.... that all adds up.

Kad:
-Priest has Lex Aeterna, Impositio Manus, Bless, and Agi Up, as well as heals. All that stuff is going to greatly speed killing.
-Monk increase agi would be good too maybe, same as priest
- Sage: I agree with you, really.
- Scholar: I assumed from his tone he likely didn't have many/any trans so I separated them. Battle aco regen sucks, they can barely keep their buffs up. SP helps reduce sitting, which helps reduce downtime, which speeds leveling.
- Bard/dancer: Riff is great for battle aco and worth following around for. Lady Luck is also good (dancer)
- Alchy: Aid Potion grants more than if the user used the potion themselves.
- Sader: Didn't realize you weren't able to sac people outside of your range. That's rough.
