I been thinking of getting that magic eyes hat for my mage. its 10% Variable cast time redcution, but makes skills cost 20% more SP. How much in dex is that 10% reduction actually?

If you're going warlock, I wouldn't bother with it since most of their cast time is fixed, not variable.

Sorc is definitely a better char, yeah, I just don't have enough experience with their skills to offer any advice on that aspect of it. It's not a cut-and-dry answer, since it does depend, in part, on how much of your cast is variable as opposed to fixed.

I actually had it calc'd out pre-renewal at what point magic eyes were worse than ramen hat, but now that is completely irrelevant. (it was something around 80ish iirc)

Could calc it out again by...

265 dexterity is 100% reduction of variable cast time according to irowiki. This would mean that 10% variable cast time reduction is equal to 26.5 points of dexterity (if math is as simple as that)

BUT

That's not the benefit you'll receive from it. The benefit you receive from it depends on the portion of the cast time of your skill which is variable, and after applying said reduction, what the final cast time is.

I think bolts are 25% fixed 75% variable i'll have to check. It'd be my main dmg dealing skillset till sorc. Also I just got a Snake Head, the hat that gives lv 5 double attack with all weapons for any class, Whats a good General use card to put into it? Since other than my Mage every other class I plan to make can make use of it. I was thinking of a Willow card I think for 80 SP. Good general use card thats cheap.

I would recommend leaving it uncarded until some of the future cards are implemented.

Cool I'll do that. I'll probally upgrade it to +4 just for the hell of it since +4 is safe.

Just fyi..

This is the casting time from kRO after renewal (With int/dex both 0 and gearless, in second):

Warlock:
-------------------------------------------------------
Soul Expansion = 0.30(fixed) + 1.20(variable) = 1.50
Summon Ball = 0.30(fixed) + 1.20(variable) = 1.50
Sienna Execrate = 0.40(fixed) + 1.60(variable) = 2.00
Recognized Spell = 0.40(fixed) + 1.60(variable) = 2.00
Frost Misty = 0.40(Fixed) + 1.60(variable) = 2.00
Marsh Of Abyss = 0.56(Fixed) + 0.00(Variable) = 0.56
Jack Frost = 0.50(Fixed) + 2.00(Variable) = 2.50
Hell Inferno = 0.80(Fixed) + 3.20(Variable) = 4.00
Stasis = 0.80(Fixed) + 3.20(variable) = 4.00
Drain Life = 0.80(Fixed) + 3.20(variable) = 4.00
Chain Lightning = 1.10(Fixed) + 4.40(variable) = 5.50
Crimson Rock = 1.00(Fixed) + 5.00(Variable) = 6.00
Earth Strain = 1.00(Fixed) + 6.00(Variable) = 7.00
Tetra Vortex = 1.00(Fixed) + 8.64(Variable) = 9.64
Comet = 3.40(Fixed) + 13.60(Variable) = 17.00
--------------------------------------------------------

Sorcerer:
--------------------------------------------------------
Striking = 0(Fixed) + 1(variable) = 1
Fire/ele Walk = 0(Fixed) + 1(variable) = 1
Varetyr Spear = 0.5(Fixed) + 2(variable) = 2.5
Warmer = 0.5(Fixed) + 2(variable) = 2.5
Earth Grave = 0(Fixed) + 3(variable) = 3
Extreme Vacuum = 0(Fixed) + 3(variable) = 3
Arrullo = 0.5(Fixed) + 3(variable) = 3.5
Killing Cloud = 1(Fixed) + 3.1(variable) = 4.1
Poison Burst = 0(Fixed) + 6(variable) = 6
Diamond Dust = 0.5(Fixed) + 7(variable) = 7.5
Psychic Wave = 0.6(Fixed) + 12(variable) = 12.6
--------------------------------------------------------

So from the above list you can see reduce variable casting time is more beneficial for sorcerer... ;)

and for bolt skill after renewal(again, 0 int/dex and gearless):
Bolt Lv10 = 0.88(Fixed) + 3.52(Variable) = 4.40
Energy Coat = 5.00(Fixed) + 0.00(Variable) = 5.00 ;)

Not worth it, however it's a cute headgear in some cases.

so, 26.5 points in dex is a 10% cast reduction? Sheesh, how am I going to have any room for vit in my build if I want a fast cast time?

At what level does foresight start to become useless for a sorceror? I see a lot of people removing it from their builds.

Well its only 150 kafra points, or i could buy 1 for about 4m or so. Might get one since its kinda cheapish. Or maybe get a mage hat instead for the 2 int and 150 sp (yay moar regen!)

well I won't be using a magic eye hat, but I meant in terms of raw stat power. If I want even a 50% variable cast time reduction then I need over 120 dex. I already did invest in 120 int...and intend to get vit too.

In renewal, INT also decreases variable cast time.

If you only have a mage, and you are planning on making a sorcerer, and you will benefit from the hat until then... I would think it would be worth it just to speed the leveling for the time it is available. Like you said, its only 150 points... I guess it would mostly depend on if you feel like you are casting too slow in the meantime.

Imo as a low level, a happy wig is more useful than that hat. 10% on its own is just not noticeable.
