When you hit Base exp cap (level 99) Base exp adds into --> Job exp
example mob gives 2000 base exp and 1000 job exp, now would give 3000 job exp after base is capped.

I found myself at 99 base/66 job. This really feels like a useless grind for the last few job levels, I don't see why a exp boost would be harmful as most people at this point are frothing at the mouth to hit their 3rd class, as I am.

Don't worry, you are still earning exp, your exp isn't lost. It just stops being displayed as you don't have a visible bar, but you are earning exp for your level 100 and beyond. By the time you change third job, and kill your first monster, you will usually instantly level to 100 and 60%+, from all the exp you are accumulating now.

In addition to what Kad said, it's the same once you hit 150. You'll keep accumulating EXP, though it will only be displayed in the login window. This EXP is used for skills like the Priest's Redemptio, or you can ask for a 50% tax in your guild and half the EXP will go towards the guild.
