Is there any support from the community for making Ygg or a new server the only open one for new players to start on (and closing the others to VIP creation only). Then, removing the trans job change and 3rd class NPC's. Thus, limiting classes to 2-1/2-2 and having a semi-pre-trans server?

If it's the starting point for new players to try out the game they could later pay for a transfer to one of the other main servers if they wished to have access to the extended classes. It would give Gravity the $$$ they love so much in potential transfers and also satisfy the nostalgia for what the game used to be to an extent.

The problem with this kind of server is that people would be hesitant to leave friends made on the server, especially since not everyone would be able to afford the xfer charges. I'd rather they just get rid of Ygg altogether and actually focus their efforts for once.

Well, if someone did not want to leave they would not be forced to. RO is a social game at its core so chances are if you made friends in the short time it took you to 99/50 and didn't want to leave, you would stick around to socialize with them (or transfer with them). Especially if the server population was halfway decent due to people continuing to play the game and not quit completely or go months to years without playing at all.

If anything, repurposing the server would create a unique playing option and do away with what is currently a redundant server, as you point out. If the community managers are having to make posts in response to the future direction of RO... there is obviously a problem. This plan is merely my suggested option to help bridge the gap and help combat the loss of interest that is currently running rampant through those that have been playing the game for a while.

You would probably first need to ask yggdrasilians what they would like for their server...

But as for a new server setup, I would not like a handicapped renewal server. If you meant, iRO should implement a working prerenewal server for those of use who loved playing in prerenewal, then yes, I would absolutely love that option. If you meant a prerenewal pretras server, I would like it too.

How about we just make a novice-only server to keep the RO vets happy? Strip away any and all content, Porings and lunatics as the only monsters, the only cities being Prontera, Old Morocc and Old Payon, and kawaii hats as the only headgears. That sounds like the sort of social server people want. No 'overpowered' 1st, 2nd, trans or 3rd class skills or silly expanded classes to screw up the balance. You can just sit around in prontera all day wearing cute hats

IF anything were to happen then what Puppet said OR just get those who are already there rolled back to 99 novice/class the character was initially.

As for the pre-renewal talk... I think too much has been invested in it to just admit defeat and go back to pre-renewal. Simply removing some NPC's would be easy to implement and everything else should work itself out gear/item wise. It would also test the waters to how players respond thus enabling the potential for future changes if all goes well. I envision it being a simple compromise to help quell some unrest and help further the growth of the game.

I only posted that satirically to prove a point. Poster was proposing a massive change that would upset 600+ people for his own motives that he's only comfortable with because it's not effecting his server.

I transferred 3 characters to ygg just because I enjoy the lower tier MVP. Unless you give me a free transfer + refund on the WP I spent on transferring to ygg, I will be really unhappy. As someone said above, leave Ygg out of it and make a new server if you want. I will be really unhappy if I spent 3 characters worth of transferring to have me sent back to my old server because someone think the server is useless.

Maybe the initial post (and the title as well) should have been worded differently for which I apologize. The main goal of this thread was to gauge interest in a pre-trans server regardless how it comes about. Not advocate the destruction of Ygg.

Nobody is going to press the off button and wipe Ygg from the surface of the world. So you have me stumped why it seems everyone feels that is what will happen and neglects to provide any real input on the actual proposal. If changing Ygg was the chosen route to take then measures would be made to make it as painless as possible but that shouldn't even be worried about until something is even decided. The sole reason it's even mentioned is the off chance there is no possibility of getting a 4th server up in which case one of the current 3 would be cannibalized. With Ygg being the youngest/smallest with no main difference other then population size, it would be the logical choice. Again that's assuming making a new server would not be possible or even merging all 3 of the current servers together wasn't an option. But, that is again jumping way ahead of where we stand and I apologize I shouldn't of even mentioned it.

Basically, would you play on an entry point server that does not have any classes beyond the base 2-1/2-2's and 1st/2nd extended classes (ninja, TKM, gunslinger, etc...) but has all the added content that come with updates? Why? Why not?

Gotta say though, I haven't had as much fun leveling a character (in my entire RO career) as I am having right now playing shadow chaser.
