Our situation is fairly different that jRO. Smaller geographic area to service means IP blocks are a VERY valid means of funneling out the undesirables. Plus they do have development teams there for other games, so solultions that work can be transposed over. We are not a big development studio, so those resources aren't really available for us to exploit.

In the west, the "over the counter" anti-hack stuff tends to break more than it solves. All those fancy keyboards and mice get flagged as illegal devices, and those that are actually doing the bad things have the easy means to bypass the programs. Some programs are better than others, but in the end anything that is on the computer is considered "in enemy's hands" and to be compromised. Some RO versions chose to monetize botting, giving them an allowance to do so under specific guidelines, we have NOT.

We have been in discussions with several companies regarding security solutions like these, and all I can say is "its being worked on". I don't want to make a statement that says something IS going to happen on a software solution front that will solve all our problems because I'm a realist and any solution is used to make things better not perfect.

I do have a long list of stuff we want and need to do. Bot murdering stuff is fairly high up there, but it has been since we started the list. We have fallen behind on keeping the bots dead due to the ticket traffic increase since April, adjustments are being made to tame that beast so we can get back into the game.

You seem to be talking about client side anti-cheat software like game guard.
As far as i know, bots don't use the game client ...

I would like to know more about the anti-bot program that jRO supposedly has, if someone can point me towards some concrete documentation on what they do besides restrict access by country and require a SS number to register I can send up proposals.

Not sure about the creditability.
But the jRO uses a hybrid of nProtect and RagDefender. It does cause troubles for users though. No FRAPS, XFIRE, x64 Bit OS, and login screen takes loads of Memory.


Wait a sec. I thought GM/GC already know of this...
At least Doddler does.

Most anti-bot is client side, if it's server side it can be sproofed. Create a Client that can't be hack and have this client send a different type of encrypted packet to the server. If bot programmer do not know how or what to send int these packets it just doesn't work.

Or just hire more people to do tickets.


And put in the new RK sprites in the cash shop so people will buy them.

Then put in the other class mounts so people will buy them.


And BLAM, you have money to fund another few part time gm ticket workers.
