I tried clicking on the Mage Manual but then the client crashed It said something about a missing sprite and the directory had weird ASCII symbols

Client isn't patched correctly (and hence is missing sprite files). The directory name is gibberish because it's in korean (RO was and still is developed in south korea).

There are topics in tech support about patch problems, i'm moving the thread there (since it's a patch issue that you can fix, not a bug that we need to ask gravity to fix) and renaming title to be more obvious.

Edit: Or, not editing topic title. Thought I had privs to do that.

Thought i was able to change the title too but i cant . And Okay, i will look at the other patch problems.

Where are the other people who've got the 'patch problem checklist' ready to post in every instance of someone with a patch problem? I can't find it on my first attempt, and don't have the time to dig much for it.

There's a laundry list of things to try when there are patch issues like that. You almost certainly need to reinstall RO - and if you're on windows 7 or vista, you should install into a location that windows doesn't see as "special" (unfortunately, RO defaults to installing in program files, which is a protected location, even though that's really not a good place to install RO to) - someplace like C:/Games or something. Just have to get it outside of program files because UAC File and Registry Virtualization can (but does not always) cause problems for RO.

Reinstall outside of program files using the 13.2 VIP installer (installing inside program files is OK on windows XP and earlier), and repatching would be the first step.

I am actually doing that right now (lol) i just hope it downloaded correctly because i think one problem is that i used last years installer

Oh, yeah, that'd be it. The old installer works fine if you've been patching it since it came out, but it won't be properly patched by default if you start using it now.
