Hello, I am downloading the game now, brand new player. What classes would you recommend for soloing pve content and what class for pvp?

i like beastmaster/monk from eq1, coercer/warden(melee) from eq2, herald of xotli from conan, goblin shaman from warhammer online, rogues and mages in rift.

I like the dark elf looking race in this game and there classes. is there a shortage of anything? something that if i leveled up would get me invited to raids? all the toons i mentioned are max level in the games and i have raided and pvp'd with them. not saying i'm the best just that i have been there and done that. would like to make something that is useful and not might be wanted in groups.

Defiler is a fun class in pve and pvp though >.>

From the dark elf-looking race defiler would be best for doing raids.

It also happens to be the best at everything else.
