I was putting it down for a friend to see in DoD
Well that's a problem isn't it? Submit a ticket and the GMs may help you

All he did was pickup your item by clicking on it or using the pickup skill near it.
And in matter of fact, it's actually exciting in some games that it is allowed, such as in EVE Online, as long as you do not bypass game mechanics, which adds a level of excitement to the game.

BUT if you gave an item to a person, he didn't really steal it.
He just wont give it back.
Even worse if you just dropped say item. Then you are basicly saying you don't want it any more.
You should be very careful to whom you give an item. (or where you drop it)
I have doubts that the GM team can help you with this.

I dropped a 100 dollar bill on the sidewalk so my friend could see it; but then someone else grabbed it and ran off!

Edit: Please don't write titles in uppercuts. It's not needed and annoying to your fellow players.

If your friend wanted to see it, you could have just traded it to him. When you drop items, anybody is capable of picking them up. I guess you'll know better next time? You can try to send in a ticket but I doubt they will do anything.
