thinking about making a druid to use as a tank. at lvl 70+ wondering how much hp/def/attack damage with bludgeon he'll have with s2 gear. also how much he'll stay alive with self-healing and also the pros and cons of a druid as a tank over a prot as a tank. looking more for a druid/avenger with captured mob duo or possibly a druid/rad duo (permitting the druid does enough damage to make this worthwhile). unless there is a better duo combination, possibly wl/mystic (w/ def and heal totem) perhaps?

Druid does not tank on self heals
Druid misses block rate buffs
Limited to magic shield
3k+ defense
10k HP
is what you will want to hit on your own
If you're duoing you will be using inferno and probably an auto attack set.

A druid can get enough defence and HP (especially with Fascination / other CON sets) to tank well.
The one problem is the lack of taunts. The one available does the same aggro as a prot's L9 taunting cry, with the same cooldown. You miss out on the single target taunt and low blow.
The long(ish) cooldown makes it hard to taunt extra mobs that come in quickly, eg in JS. Also it is only 8 target, rather than prot's 10.
As for self-heals... doomguard's is kinda sucky, with a long cooldown. You could max the first job ones and jump back to caster to use them, but that means rebuffing doomguard again.
Druid can tank well, it's more fun than prot for sure. But.. prot is a safer bet for aggro.

so basically i'd have to have a rad with me to tank, which a druid doesn't do all that great. i'm trying to figure out a good duo combination so that i can get better items by myself, but can't think of the two best classes to put together. i already have a 79 avenger and a 76 prot, but they're on the same account, so i can't use them together. i'm willing to make 2 new chars to duo farm better than average gear

Duo farm what? You need carus gear at those levels

not sure what i'm going to duo farm and i've done quite well with the eximius stuff i've been using. i'm switching to carus stuff when i start playing again. wanted to try farming in ST for carus xeons, maybe WS boss or RM bosses.

Tempest, mystic, defiler... fast and don't need duo to farm.
Tanking raid bosses always requires a healer (RH upwards), regardless of the tank.
Pros of druid lie in its adaptability. Melee, caster, tank... backup healer to an extent... it can do all of these. Maybe not as well as dedicated classes, but well enough to get by.

so it's sounding like druid is a no-go. not trying to farm in pd. trying to farm on regular bosses (ws boss, rm bosses, ds bosses), not raid bosses
