Ragnarok's Story

Ragnarok, meaning judgement day revolves in the story based in Norse Mythology. After a period of Great War, between gods, demons and humans, peace has finally come. The uneasy period became a time for humans to start getting selfish forgetting the hardships of the past war.

As the divisions between humans, gods and demons begin to break once more, adventurers tell of strange stories. Legend about Ymir, known to have kept the peace begins to circulate among the people of Midgard once more.

Adventure begins for many who want to search for Ymir.

Ragnarok offers several character class that you can choose from, start with the character that you like and by creating the right stats. The different strength, weaknesses and specialized powers of the different characters make them a valuable part of a party. With two genders to choose from you can and you will be able to set stats for your chosen character. The most recommended distribution for stat points are:

Acolytes STR 9/5 INT 1/5 VIT 8/8 DEX 2/2 LUK 1/9 AGI 9/1

Archers STR 1 INT 9 VIT 1 DEX 9 LUK 1 AGI 9

As you log in into the server you will be seeing a character selection screen popping up. For first time Ragnarok players, you will need to select the 'make' option. After selecting the option, there will be another pop up screen that is going to allow you to set the initial statistic points for your character. You will also get to change the hair color, hair style and set your character name. There are several stats that you will need to set. The stats are as follows:

DEX or dexterity: Increases our accuracy and stabilizes the amount of damage taken done by a weapon. It also helps lower the casting time of some skills or spells.
STR or Strength: Increases the attach strength and the weight capacity.
LUK or Luck: It increases the chance of making critical hits and increases the dodge rate. It also increases the characters luck.
AGI or Agility: Increases dodge rate and attack speed of the character.
INT or Intelligence - Increases magic defense and magic attacks.
VIT or Vitality - Helps increase HP recovery, defense and health.

In playing Ragnarok Online, you will get to start as a Novice and you will be able to change more than 5 different first class jobs. After completing your first job, you can change or upgrade into a more advance class job. Your character will then continue to grow through numerous job changes. Get to see the diagram below for more details explanation.

How experience is obtained

Experience is awarded to players depending on how much damage was afflicted to the monster's HP or Hit Points during combat. The player who afflicts the most damage will get to have the most experience.

Scenario 1: If a monster with 100HP gave 100 XP points or experience points, and your character afflicted a total of 65 damage points to the monster, then you will be getting 65 experience points. A different experience system is applied in playing cooperative gaming with other characters or players.

Scenario 2: If a monster with 100 HP that gives 100 experience points is being attacked by two different characters, if character A attacks first and does 50 damage points to the monster and then followed by a 50 damage point by character B, character A will gain 66.6 experience point. This is twice the amount of experience points that character B gains.

In addition, if more than only one player engages the same monster, the total experience points that the monster offers will be increases by 25% for every player that attacks it. This type of system was implemented to reduce the 'kill-stealing' and 'ill-mannered' activities that have been observed in the game.

Sharing experience in a party

In Ragnarok Online, creating parties and playing with other players are made possible using the friend button which can be seen in the Basic Info window. Party leaders can get to choose either Each Take or Even Share for experience points. Each Take allows the party members to share experience point to help other characters in leveling. With even share however allows party members to share experience point to help leveling up with other players. It also distributes the experience evenly to all the party members. Party members must be on the same map and the member with the lowest level must be within 10 levels of the member who has the highest level. Experience Point Distribution only applies to character that are online and active in the party and character that dies during the battle is not going to be able to receive any experience points.
