What do you mean, necessary?
If you need the benefits from a card, of course it is. If you just need the rideword sp/hp sucking, no - It's not like there are many headgear cards worth talking about...

Necessary as in something that a thief class character is recommended to get. But anyway, you answered my question. Thanks.
