Just curious.
people bored of lower population or in search of new friends on valk. How many have actually come over from Ymir to Valk?

You do realize Valk has a population similar to Ymir and the only reason their player count is so high is because of the bots...right?

I did an opposite transfer, taking all my characters from Valk to Ymir and it's the best thing I could have ever done.

People are very aware you can move from Ymir to Valk, but everyone on Ymir wouldn't dream of things being "better" on Valk unless you love playing by yourself on maps swarming with bots.

Let me tell you now, you will regret this decision if you hate bots, they are everywhere and it's quite annoying. Go to the magma map for example. Too many to count with 1908239128309128 hands. However, if you want to have active pvp rooms, valkyrie server is where its at. Also woe is really nice here.

well, there are two ways of discussing this, either you can pull random data out of your ass like the gentlemen above did, or you can actually bring up facts like
1/ valk's population is still above 2x as big as ymir, even if you assume more than 70% are bots (its easy to get an estimate of the bot population thanks to ragial, you just have to check the population right after a maintenance ends, most bots log in as soon as servers are up)
2/ the ratio god items/player on ymir is sickening...
3/ gtb
4/ low amount of new players, specially compared to valk.

on a side note this is what bots mean on valk:
1/ you might see them during your lvl 1-90 lvling, which is what? 1% of your total exp to 150?
2/ bots mean less time doing the boring things once you re high lvl and dont feel like making a bunch of alts to look for random ingredients.
3/ the very few that get past 99 get reported and banned most of the time from what i ve seen.

Dunno about that with all the 3rd class bots running around the Magmaring map.

I'm VERY happy with Ymir's $7 barrier to entry. If a friend can't afford it, I'll hand them 7 bucks.

It's like the zombie apocalypse, and we're that one city that's been spared by the plague, with plenty of guns to pass around to deal with the few zombies (bots) that do wander in.

Why are these reasons not to move to Ymir? Don't move to Ymir coz there are so many strong characters? Pathetic loser viewpoint?

No, no. You choose the server you like.

Server transfer from Ymir to Valkyrie is pointless, you can always make a new character, and if you are "so good as you say", you can always level and reach the same level, and someway cheaper, depending of your class.

While you spend like, 200+k for each catalyst of stuff on Ymir, you can get most for 20+k on Valkyrie, therefore leveling faster due to bots. This is totally weird though.

But it does not matter. Don't transfer to Valkyrie. You might not like it and pay again to go back to Ymir, so it's easier [and cheaper] to make a new character.

I have never played on Ymir so I can't really judge. I just wanted to say that the Valk server is fun. The bots never really bother me. Valk has a lot of good people and is pretty active.

If you plan to play the game real strait, then I would suggest sticking with Ymir. Low level drops are botted on Valk. This lowers the price for everything and makes it harder to make zeny. Say you get a hunter fly card on Ymir. It will make you a good chunk of zeny. On Valk its no big deal lol.

On the flip side though. Once you get to a higher level the basic stuff is cheaper because its botted.

Yes, everyone knows that transfer option exists. Very few people actually want to do that. The economy is extremely hostile on valk due to the influence of botting (sure, you can get supplies cheap, but you can't make money, and gear that cant be botted is exorbitantly expensive).

Fixed. Gtb card is specially bad. Such a strong card in such an easy "MVP". Not allowing GTB card was [accidentally] the best decision GMs could do when creating valkyrie server. The God item/ratio has nothing to do with good or bad players either, but with the merging of many servers, and is bad too.

Strong characters is debatable, there are good and bad players in both servers.

I have played on both and at this point, I have to say that Ymir is better.
The population on Valk is really awesome and it's bigger than Ymir even if it didn't have the bots.

Well from -my- personal experience, which is where I get my info from, even though valk may get more new players, the bots and the somewhat closed off community makes it more likely for them to leave before they even reach level 90. Compared to Ymir where you can actually make new friends while leveling as well as the community being very friendly towards new players, especially the priests. They even have a better way to make money considering anyone can hunt items required for high level skills and sell them for a profit. Sure 100 stems might only give them around 200k, but that's a huge amount for a new player just getting started.

As for the god items, I personally don't own any but I don't see the problem with people owning them. They worked for them, so what? God items aren't a plague. Not everyone on the server owns one and you're not going to get outclassed by the entire server if you don't have them. The GTB is pretty bad though and I don't think it should exist in the first place, but there's nothing you can really do about it, probably the one major con I see on Ymir.

The fact that it's easier to make money on Ymir combats the downside that ingredients are more expensive. You also seem to forget that the drop rate penalty is gone and will probably remain gone forever, so you can hunt stuff on your 100+ character just as good if not better than a low level alt around the level of the monster you're hunting.

Lastly, no, they don't frequently get banned over 99.

Considering moving to Valk is, for most Ymir players, the last thing on their minds. Moving to Ygg is the only considerable option, as many people are sick to death of the MvP card/God Item situation on Ymir. The GMs have done nothing to balance the accumulation of 4 servers worth of God Items spaning back to the original servers of RO except to slow their creation after breaking them down.

For the people talking about bots hunting items people don't want to hunt themselves...that's an old pro-bot trope brought out when botters start loosing the argument. Akihiro is proof. There's always someone willing to do the hunting.

If your fighting at top tier in woe or MVPing etc your going against fully god/mvp carded chars regardless of it being Ymir/Valk. Only difference is on Ymir both sides have them :P

I havent woe'd on Valk in a long time, but from comments i've seen both servers seem to have roughly the same woe-active population.

I absolutely hate dealing with bots/botters so i retried from valk and went back to Ymir. Theres people who bot their way to 150 on both servers, but at least on Ymir they are few and far between. The payment barrier is a godsend.

Aside from the bots and concentrated god items there isnt much difference between the two servers. I've got no idea what Ygg is like atm, but im pretty sure the 1000% increase in population is mostly bots.
