Hey guys,Iam not known for talking on the forums as often due to the clear standing reasons but I wasn't sure on where to place this topic at since it effects more than just Ragnarok or R.O.S.E,its gaming overall in general in a nutsell.

Discuss and try to keep it clean,Iam too angry atm to hand in my 2 cents on the situation at hand and what this can mean for the Ragnarok community.1st Sports with the retarded ass lockouts, now this bull..When it rains it pours doesn't it?

I doubt many gaming publishers will enforce these laws. Videos on games is free advertising, its not like people like games to watch other people play them.

Amazes me they are concerned over such things when we can't even work out a budget plan or raise the debt ceiling or well...do anything.

There is still alot to consider first of all.

I read its in the Senate right now which requires 2/3 vote and it could go thru a lengthy process of amending and what not, and if it didn't already go before the House of Representatives it will if it passes Senate which also requires 2/3 vote as well as the same process of amendment if deemed necessary, then it goes to the President for review. If the President approves of the legislation, he signs it and it becomes law. If the President does not take action for ten days while Congress is in session, the bill automatically becomes law. If the President opposes the bill he can veto it; or, if he takes no action after the Congress has adjourned its second session, it is a "pocket veto" and the legislation dies. The worst case scenario is if the President vetoes it, Congress may decide to attempt to "override the veto." This requires a two-thirds roll call vote of the members who are present in sufficient numbers for a quorum.

Its enough to make the head spin for sure. Posted Image

I'm not that confident right now Congress could vote anything properly. I think the only things they have voted swiftly on lately have been matters of war, like appointing a new CIA Leader and the new Chairman of the Joint Chiefs I think which was unanimous.

Americans are more concerned with their "justified" wars, than with insignificant video games, movies, music. I'm sure someone thought of this to fool people, aka "cash cows", that they care for them. Well they only need the money, and a bit of interest couldn't hurt. Usually they never get these laws approved.

Just my 2 cents on the matter, but what do i know, I'm not even American.

We have a crap load more important things to worry about then this here.
  • now 3 wars
  • a tanking economy and a president that wants to do the opposite of what is needed to fix it
  • gridlock between the Libs who want to spend us into oblivion and Conservatives who want to stop the spending
  • Illegal immigration
  • and many more important things then this bill

Yeah if it does it'll probably go along for while and get so much heat from everyone's representatives and it'll get repealed. Or the Supreme Court could probably swat it down via the 1st amendment (only one I can think of that might apply off the top of my head without looking).

The problem here is that the bill is heavily sponsored by the MPAA and the RIAA, both of which have pretty deep pockets (at least the MPAA anyway) I'm not saying that they will buy votes, but...

...well, they'll buy votes. :P

As a struggling game designer, I can almost see where they are coming from. However, I'm not a big fan of this Bill just on the principle that, let's be honest, it really won't do anything. Sure they'll nick a couple of people, sue them for more than they can afford, force the person into bankruptcy and thus will they never get the money they wanted in the first place. It's just crazy and incredibly shortsighted.

Maybe I misunderstood I thought this Bill, at least one part of it, was about people using like XFire and stuff to make videos of their gaming experiences. Did I read the wrong Bill proposal?

basically, it's a blanket ban on streaming unauthorized media. Games, Music, Movies, etc all fall under this and they made uniform penalties for all infringements. Now, I'm not saying that people shouldn't have the right to protect their own Intellectual Property, it's just the law is so broadly written it'll be a giant cluster of borderline frivolous lawsuits and they can get away with them because most people can't handle the legal expenses to show in court that the law would need a ton of refinement to even be remotely viable. On top of that, they can only really punishing the streamers and the law is only really applicable to sites and users within the US. If they're in Sweden or something, tough nuggets. :P

Did you really have to make another thread about this using the SAME terrible video?!

I would vote for this bill just to spite the fatty in the video. Again, should have been a 2-3 minute video not a 17 minute one where he repeats himself 50 times.

The bill itself is stupid because of the vague/broad language. Putting someone who makes a video of their gameplay into the same category as someone who uploads a full big budget movie for everyone to pirate in the same category is nothing short of retarded.
