I've played lots of MMOs in the past and I've usually played one of each class, so I'm familiar with all the roles in a party, etc. etc. That being said I usually played a Paladin/Assassin/Overlord type character as my main(s). I'm kind of discouraged to play Paladin in this game because of how people say it's OP (realize I've played Paladin in games where it was considered middle tier.), can anyone shed light on this situation though please?

I usually aim for a more PvP-centric character, sure I'll PvE and "farm" bosses, but my ultimate goal is spending majority of my time in PvPing.

So, after looking around the job descriptions for a bit, and watching some videos I've narrowed what I wanted to main down to: Paladin (I love this class what can I say?), Overlord, Ninja, Destroyer, or Savage.

Any tips, advice, pros and cons would be greatly appreciated.

PvP is dead in this game. I rule the world.

I'll give you a serious answer. I'll admit I don't participate in PvP because it's not my taste but it seems any time someone asks stuff like this the serious PvPers answer with the most pessimistic statements.

I'll give you a bit of description and recommendation based on your choices.

First, it sounds like you really would like to play Paladin. I am a Paladin and I'll tell you it's extremely fun. However, Paladin has many skills and "lock" combos that are considered extremely overpowered, combined with their ability to reach the highest damage numbers in the game, and low cooldowns. That being said, some of the more elite PvPers won't even play against a Paladin. However, I do not think you should be discouraged. If you're a mature player then no one can call you out on anything other than being an OP class--and you can work to play down those aspects of the class.

Overlord is, in my opinion, not so great. It has very useless skills until late in the game and has nothing extraordinary or spectacular going for it. It has lower damage than Paladin and usually gets the short end of the stick on everything. I don't recommend this as your starting class and it's not especially wonderful for PvP.

Ninja is another great choice. It is extremely fun, well-versed, and unique. Ninja is a very PvP-centric class but be warned that if you want to at all be taken seriously you should invest in good gear and be agile with your keyboard-fu. I recommend you read Yurai's Ninja PvP guide in the Thief section for some insight into the class because he explains what is necessary for a good Ninja to perform. You must be a very competent player but it is a rewarding class to play.

I also have a Destroyer. Destroyers are a burst damage class with long cooldowns but fun skills. End game Destroyers in PvP do need quite a bit of skill to play well and I recommend this more for skilled players (It's said that everyone makes one as an alt character and that seems to be true).

Savage used to be one of the best classes a long time ago. I can't really explain why they lost their edge but they are a tad lackluster compared to the other classes. To make use of it in PvP you'd probably have to rely a bit more on stats and gear rather than actual skill. However, it's a cool class.

My order of recommendation is this: Paladin > Ninja > Destroyer > Overlord > Savage. I say you become a Paladin because it seems to be your gut choice and I;d hate to see you miss out on it because other people might have a problem with it.
