I've playtested a couple of different Shadow Chaser builds now, and all in all, Chasers just seem... Well, terrible. They have literally zero offensive skills, and the remaining skills aren't remotely helpful in any direct combat situation. They can't use Katars, and are limited to only one-handed swords and knives if you don't spend twenty skill points on extra range and DS. They have the smallest damage output I've ever seen on any meelee class...

So, what? The whole Rogue job tree exists just for Divests and copied skills? And I mean, really, NO OFFENSIVE SKILLS AT ALL? That's ridiculous. At least any given assassin would have SD, etc.

Someone PLEASE tell me what Shadow Chasers are good at. Some builds, etc that bring out some kind of redeeming quality for this class. :x

I'm NOT trolling SC users, fans, or the class in general! I'm just wondering if there's something I'm missing that makes Shadow Chasers a good class.
So yeah... Time for SC pros out there to rebuttal! DEFEND THY HONOR!

Chasers seem to be more of a debuff annoyance class with a focus on WoE. They won't be an MVP class, and for levelling purposes, copied skills are your main offensive.

You're able to copy 2 skills, and the list of skills you can copy and utilise is fairly large and diverse. Most people will probably tell you to get Fire Trap for speed levelling or probably Shadow Spell or maybe even Severe Rainstorm. If you build them with the right stats, they can be truly diverse, while not particularly excelling in any particular area.

Also, when I say Diverse, with how much DEX you need these days, you could easily slap a bow on and go Severe Rainstorming even if you weren't really a Bow Rogue.

http://forums.warppo...erchaser-guide/

A Chaser's skills are mostly built for PvP/WoE. They work as a debuffer class more than a class that can do any real damage compared to other classes. They are basically very versatile in that they're able to copy 2 skills at a time to use in combination attacks. Just check out my guide for some basic builds and what those builds are used for.

As Scott mentions, Fire Trap and Severe Rainstorm are really some of the best options a Chaser can have in terms of what they can copy for offensive attacks. Fire Trap is great in that if you couple it with a Rideword+quad Hunterfly dagger-type weapon+Nid Garb, you can basically keep leveling without much need for potions and sp. They are quite possibly, one of the cheaper classes to level in close rivalry with RG's who use Reflect Damage to level.

Be glad that a Chaser has the ability to copy working AoE attacks as opposed to Guillotine Cross. That class suffers from the fact that their entire skill tree from Assassin up to a Guillotine Cross have a lack of effective high-DPS AoE skills. That's...assuming they don't want to couple EDP with Rolling Cutter anyways.

They're pretty much all about the copied skills in PVM. Being able to copy skills like that, especially third job skills, is kind of a big deal.

They are also intensely annoying in WoE, and are a top tier woe class. One of their masquerades TAKES AWAY YOUR ABILITY TO POT for a few seconds. This is generally fatal. They can full divest. This is generally fatal. They can unmount mounted classes - which among other things means RKs can't dragon breath. There appears to be no way to resist the masquerades either. They can manhole and stick people to the ground leaving them unable to use skills. They can shadow form people. I've died to my guild-members trying to kill someone who shadow formed me. Hell, they can shadow form people in manholes. Chaos panic is very annoying, it completely derails a rush. I would rate a well played SC as about as dangerous a well played sura or genetic (though a poorly played sura/genetic is better than a poorly played SC, all else being equal).

Masquerade Enervation doesn't do that. It simply takes away Spirit Spheres, making it a useless Masquerade to invest in. The skill description on Himeyasha is inaccurate. xD

Okay, then what skill is it that blocks all item usage? There is definitely a skill that blocks all item usage for several seconds - I'm pretty sure it was SC's that did it, too. I always thought it was one of the masquerades.

Chasers don't have a single skill that does that. The only other possibility could have been that you were put to Sleep by a Chaser's Flying Kick.

As a Dagger Chaser, I assume you are a Shadow Spell build Chaser. Or at least you'll be or should be one eventually, if you plan to use a dagger. Don't use Raging Trifecta Blow as a Chaser when you get a high enough level of Shadow Spell. Get Duple Light with a weapon that has Matk, like the Bazerald.

When you get a few levels of Shadow Spell allocated, be sure to Intimidate either Meteor Storm or Stormgust. You can Reproduce Duple Light as a buff and autocast with Shadow Spell at the same time.

Nice job necro'ing an almost year-old thread by the way. :v

You don't cast spells with Shadow Spell. Shadow Spell is a buff that lets you autocast spells as you attack, meaning you don't use SP whenever the Shadow Spell autocasts the spell you have set to it. Duple Light is also an autocast buff that you have to cast on yourself every so often. Duple Light is 4 times stronger than Raging Trifecta Blow ever will be and is more reliable.

AoE autocasted Storm Gust/Meteor Storm is better than a single target Raging Trifecta Blow.

Keep the Ice Pick, because it is still a good weapon with Duple Light. Upgraded weapons in Renewal adds Matk to the weapons, so even an Ice Pick with no initial Matk is going to have quite a bit if we're talking about a +12 Lv4 weapon. It just means your spells will be weaker, but your physical attacks will be stronger. Sadly, this translates to more damage 1vs1 and less damage against mobs.

On the link you provided for Shadow Spell...

It says:

"One cannot auto cast holy spells eg. Holy Light (Acolyte) and Magnus Exorcismus (Priest) with exception of Heal (Acolyte)."

Sorry but I'm too lazy to try.  If I copy Heal and cast Shadow Spell, will it autocast Heal on me or on monsters???
