Dear RO community,

For a long time now I've played MMO's, my first in fact, was Ragnarok Online. I'd like to come clean first that I was not an entirely legit player. In the days of yore before it got all...well, big. There weren't Super Novices, Taekwon and beyond. A then friend of mine told me about this cool game that was amazing, bright, and offered huge maps - but the best part? It was free! Free?! I didn't really know that there was an iRO back then, that playing on a free server was frowned upon. And by the time I did, I scoffed at the idea of paying to play. And then, like a lot of things people tire of, I grew tired of RO. I grew into other games, WoW, Warhammer, and others. It's been years since I even gave RO a thought (7ish, probably?). It was a couple of months back when someone told me about Wakfu, and the art sparked some sort of memory. The dazzling scenery, the unique array of classes and I asked myself: what ever happened to RO? Looking over the new website revealed a mind numbing amount of changes. New classes, maps, quests, items you can purchase for in-game - the list goes on. And I've been chewing on the idea of this game for a long time.

Is there still even a large player base despite other "free" to play MMO's? Or can I look forward to empty city streets, barren maps and bots every which way?
Are quests easier to manage? (i.e a quest log and not having to rely on memory on what you have/n't done?)
WTF is Eden?
Is the exp gain less of a nightmare? Because, I totally remember the agony of getting up there and it was a prime reason of quitting. Twice, if you trans'd.
Is playing even worth it? I mean, what IS there to do in RO?
Do YOU, as a player, enjoy the game?

I know I could just download the client and see for myself but I don't want to be disappointed. I think my primary concern now-a-day is that I don't PvP, so events like WoE make me want to cringe. Is the game friendly towards someone like me? If I decide to give it a try, where do you go for resources such as a list of quests, in depth class information and the like?

Thank you for your time, and perhaps maybe, I'll see some of you soon.

Despite the bots, there are still very large playerbase on Valkyrie. Ymir is doing well as well. Yggdrasil is the only server that's still sort of barren, but that's because it's new.

Yes, quest logs are much better now. You also get notified in your chat how many monsters you've killed for kill count quests.

Eden is a 'general hub' for the game. It contains the Kafra Gals, upgraders, etc. It's also for newbies, and gives quests to make leveling much easier from 1-85 or so. You can also get some pretty good newbie gear by doing quests.

The game has become a huge grind. Most monsters give pitiful EXP and you're expected to mob for hours on end to gain a level. However, the GMs have been trying to fix this with buffs to the party system and lots of turn-ins lately.

MVPing, WoE... There's quite a few instance dungeons. And of course you can play it for friends and stuff too. =)

Of course I enjoy it, otherwise I wouldn't be playing. xD

compared to before I will sayright now is a breeze to level to third class (before will take months to years now take days and at most two or three months and that is if you play barely 2-3 hours a week ._.U)

anyway... :P I will say TRY and see how the community hit you :P (literally, some will even crash you with a running tk class ._.U)

There's still a healthy-sized player base. Not as big as it was before, but big enough to find someone to hang out with.

I would say play for the company. There's plenty of cool people that play and half the fun is just sitting in town looking all kawaii and stuff with random people. The game can get kinda boring and tedious at times so it's good to take a break once and a while.

I like the game still. I just lament the generally negative attitude that floats through the community at times.

ro is a game that has changed a lot, but has not made any progress at all: same awkward ui, low res sprite gfx, bot infested, etc. ro is a game that has been stuck in 2002.

I met a ton of ppl doing the turnin quests in the past few months. Some of them became good friends.
There will be a point for players that they will see themselves playing along with the same people over and over again.
This will happen specially with people who wants to party because of turnin and other events.
