okay so i'm doing the sign quest and this dancing part seems to be impossible to solve for me. i've seriously tried for a couple hours now.

here's one reference video i found:

this looks extremely easy to do on the video. there is only one marker at a time to which the knight has to run. he is buffed with agi and peco so he's pretty fast. he gets it right on the first try.

i have SEVERAL problems.

firstly those markers (hide animations) that appear for you to mark the spot youre supposed to go next to seem odd. for the knight it was one at a time, always in a different spot, never the spot he already stands on. for me its mostly two or three at once. often times including the spot i'm already on. i think this is due to latency. (i'm in europe)

also due to latency it is often times impossible for me to reach a spot in time. while a delay from clicking to walking of lets say 0.5sec is usually no problem at all for the game play, it kinda makes this dancing test for me way too hard if not impossible.

things that also bother me:
apparently i have to score 100%, meaning i cant afford a single mistake. why in the world do i have to go through the whole damn test when i already screwed up? the test should stop and teleport me out if i did a mistake once. that would save ALOT of time.
also the directions displayed as announcement aren't related to where you actually have to go at all. it is just confusing.

i've also read the guide on iro wiki and tried to memorize the steps and walk to them before theyre marked, but very often the game doesn't give me credit when i'm already standing on a spot that's gonna be marked. (also probably due to latency)

(i'm a priest so i can agi me, walking speed is not the problem in my case)

so help me out here: WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO???

i really would like to finish the quest as i plan to grind in geffenia.

any tip how i could solve this or what i could improve to get through this would be helpful.
just please dont tell me to have an american "friend" log into my account to do the quest for me. i'm not account sharing with people i only know half-heartedly.

All I can say is try to memorize the steps even if you have to write them down, I had to grind thru it quite a few times myself.

Firstly, I did read it, and that was my advice. If you're lagging there isn't much that can be done other than asking you to post a traceroute but since you're in Europe I don't think it will yield much. Physical Distance is Physical Distance.

so answering with:

i should've probably mentioned that i know the pattern from heart by now. which is not surprising after like 3 hours of trying it.

Then its back to the lag issue, another thing you can try is:

Use lowerping to fix the latency (they offer a free trial - unlimited, except you have to reconnect it every 30 mins, so just reset LP after every attempt or something). The TCP fix won't help much for this kind of latency; it only fixes poslag, it doesn't fix normal latency.

And yes, the sign dancing quest is really, really annoying. Everyone i know who's done it took a few hrs to get it the first time.

Failing that, get a trusted friend to do it for you. That's what I did the first time I did sign quest. Paid my roommate (who also did it for his GF, who couldn't do it herself either) to do it for me.

  tried to do it for more than 200 times by now, still couldn't do it. The commands are just too fast. my Rune Knight just cant keep up.

And i dont know anyone else who plays RO.

When they say something like "up-left", they mean the direction that is in the diagonal facing up and left, not that you're supposed to go up and then left. 

 

That confused me for a long time, causing me to think I needed to make twice as many steps as I needed to. 

 

You also pretty much need to memorize the steps.

i got no prob with what direction to go. But it gives me new move to perform when i am half-way done with my previous move.

To cut some time, you can also move to the tile next to the marked one. Say for step 10, you can walk to the green tiles in the picture, it'll register. Sorry for the crappy quality.

One other tip I heard worked, is to just get it to register the first step and the last step of a move. Like in the pic above, for move 10. You'd walk on the upper green tile (start), ignore all the steps in between, and just walk to the lower green tile (end). The main thing is DON'T STAND on them, you have to move to the tile else it won't register.

 

Bring some guarana candies along, I'm from Europe, any movement speed buff will help tons. :>

i noticed the tip you showed in picture. My network is so slow that it cant even keep up with it too.

I'll try the another tip which you gave me, just doint the first and last atep. Hope it helps.

Good luck. From the people I talked to, the second method is so-so. Worked for some, didn't for others. The first one works (green tiles in the picture), that's how I got past that part.

Don't follow the visual mark on the floor, memorize the pattern and try and try again until you grasp the pattern without looking at the instruction above. And also make sure you don't have a laggy connection it'll kill you LOL. Took me couple of hours on this part.
