Current situation:
  • You accept a turn in quest from Gramps and you get a Hunting Timer and a Kill Count quest for each monster mission you accept.
  • Your Hunting Timer expires after 23 hours, so that you may take the quest daily.
  • Your Kill Count quest stays until you turn in the quest for reward.
Problems with the current situation:
  • Not everyone can be online to reset their Hunting Timers at a reasonable time, shifting schedules further apart.
  • Some people have to wait for others' timers if they wish to party with each other.
  • Some people can't wait for others' timers, so they never end up partying together.
  • If you miss one day and reset your Hunting Timer too late, you may potentially miss another day because of maintenance times.
Suggested change:
Hunting Timers reset globally by date, not by number of hours.

I'm not sure how well resetting by date would work considering that there's people on both sides of the international date line that play iRO. I think if they shortened the turn-in timer to 18 or so hours, it should be enough.

The time difference across time zones wouldn't matter because RO is on a weekly maintenance. You may only take the the specific quest after maintenance and before maintenance, meaning you can't lose out on taking the quest any specific day unless you literally aren't on to take it, but that's exactly the same as it is now - the limitation being if you take the quest after a certain hour you won't be able to take the quest the full 7 days because maintenance will cut you off (i.e. 11pm PST Monday before maintenance the following day). The difference is that you can start the quest earlier but you still can only do it 7 times. If the timers were allowed to be reset every 18 hours instead of 23 it would be possible that you could pick up the quest in a timely manner such that it would allow players to take the quest 8 times in a week instead of 7. I wouldn't mind this either, however, I don't think that would be working as intended.

Ah, I gotcha. I'm just wondering if the game code can do it, seeing as how that your option seems to be a more natural idea, I'm sure it would have been brought up in the dev phase at some point. I wonder why it (probably) got the axe. This is all conjecture on my part by the way, but as someone with a coding background I can safely say that sometimes the answers aren't as easy as we would hope.
