Well thief/rogue are geared a little more to farming with a specific build. I hear their Gank/steal ability isn't affected by the decrease drop rate on levels differentiation.
I don't think there's a drop penalty based on level anymore

incredible aspd and critical with spear quickening, lots of hp and hp regen, walk a lot faster, carry a lot more stuff, better dps skills
very noob friendly character. As of gears, you dont even need elemental weapons. grab a pantie combo and crescent scythe

1. There IS a drop penalty affected by your lvl compared to the monster level, HOWEVER this has been DISABLED for the foreseeable future as it's causing a lot of problems with regards to certain quests etc...
2. Rogue with Gank is the best character to use for farming major drop items or just for making zenny. Reason is because they are agility based so don't need to use much zenny for potting. Also they steal while killing guys so don't use up there sp that way.
3. If you do NOT just want to get the most common drops from monsters, (example, Poring drops Jellopy at 70% so you would be likely to get 2 of them per kill with Gank), but want instead things that only drop infrequently like most gear then the better idea is probably Crusader/Pally/Royal Guard as early on they have Spear Quicken for quick killing and evasion as well as OverBrand when RG for mob smashing.
Both options can easily/best be done solo as well.

one problem with it is that if you are going to solo, you will need pots or have to sit a lot because you dont have high regen, and u dont have high flee.I like to use a blacksmith, ore discovery is a bonus, greed is great and you can have a pushcart for both supplies and storage for an extended dungeon trip. Just don't get too attached to mammonite if it's just for farming, that adds up.
however, a friend of mine just make a blacksmith, get him to 90ish and start using greed in nogg2. he makes about 3m an hour, pretty good for beginners

If you're a starting out a rogue class would be your best bet.
