Oddly at the end of the 8/16/2011 patch an information box popped up entitled, Failed to write file, and its contents said Ragexe.exe

Could someone please advice me in remedying this problem?

Well... yeah... I mean I did have another client running while I was patching but once I saw the error I immediately closed both clients then attempted to patch again. The result was still the same.

That error means that the patcher does not have permissions to write the file. Either you still have a client running, or you have the ghost of a client running (reboot to make sure this isn't the case), or you're running into UAC-related permissions problems (but I think this is unlikely, since you say you had the client working prior to today)

And this is tech support, not a bug report.
