Nerf the Warlock Test

Also, Storm gust froze all of the enemies (except the aquas) every time for me, so either I had good luck or you guys were having bad luck.
I agree that the test doesn't need to be nerfed. It is a challenge, yes. But that is good! I'm glad the warlock test was challenging. You just need to sit back, think out a plan, and use your skill.
All you have to do is: Freeze mobs, run to a corner, chain lightning aquas, freeze mobs again, and start picking them off one-by-one. Then make sure you're in a good spot for the next wave and do it again. If you get hit with a waterball, pot your way out of it.

For the test I had:
5512 HP
99/70 Level
+7 AoA
+4 Hard Mink
Double Dex Arc Wand
+7 Fire-Proof Guard
+7 Immune Muffler
+7 Green Shoes
Glove under cast
Nimble Rosary
As you can see they are all pretty normal stuff for Pre-Renewal standards. (Oh I hunted by myself for Peno cards. Raydric card was from a party of friends)
I also had about 150 whites (maybe?) and pre Magical Amplified myself before entering room.
It doesn't matter if you carry over weight because either you kill the monsters or the monsters kill you before your SP runs out.
I also did not use Energy Coat because the monsters will rob all of your sp. You will take many hits in a very short time.
Solution 1:
If you have the scrolls, configure and use a lvl 99 mercenary. (Although I hated cheating I didn't think of solution 2 until after the test)
After about 10 tries I took this route and the whole test was like taking candy from a baby. So easy.
I set my mercenary to follow me closely and protect me when I get hit and only attack monsters that are close by when I have casted SG.
This gives me time to cast lvl 10 SG because it has the highest chance of freezing a monster. (I used lvl 10 and no less during the test)
Also the mercenary keeps the monsters our of frozen so that more SG hits occur.
The mercenary would initially follow me to a corner whilst the Aquas chased after me. When I casted SG the mercenary served an an alternative target for the Aquas thus relieving me from having to pot normal whites.
Aquas first and then SG everything else. There is loads of time.
When the two rounds of monsters are killed, the mercenary needs to help kill the stone at first whilst you kill with magic and then after about 5 mins maybe you should stop the mercenary and kill the Hollow Stone yourself so that you pass the quest.
Solution 2:
Instead of taking a mercenary you can use Green Ales (I thought of this afterwards which really bugs me until this day)
Green Ales heal 50% hp if I remember correctly which are a lot more effective than normal whites which are also heavy.
If I thought of using this item I could have passed without cheating by using a mercenary >_<"
Just replace the whites and it should be all fine and dandy.
I think I had between 5-6k hp as a High Wizard so 1 Green Ale heals like 2.5k, a lot better than potting 5 whites. It takes time to pot and recover the same amount!
So after thinking up solution 2 after my test and becoming a Warlock, I think the test is absolutely fine. No changes are required. You just need to have some good gears and be calm during the test. ^_^
Solution 2 should be the easiest of the 2 solutions. Just like taking candy from a sleeping baby.
I really think this test is very good at testing how good a Wizard you are. A party of 3rd job classes really need good Warlocks...
Looking back, this test is fun and I would do it again if I could. Just remember to bring Green Ales next time. Hehe...

YAY!! This shows that its great we dont get half-baked warlocks that can't even play their class correctly. We want quality warlocks not quantity...please keep failing until you guys become pro~ Trust me! You guys will make your future party members lives easier by passing it "with skills-or luck..".
WARLOCK TEST!! BANZAI!! BANZAI!!

The difference in opinions in this thread from what i have observed is that veterans/established players finding no problem with it vs new players.
It is so easy and fast to get 99/70 now that most new players don't have any gears outside eden equips and levelling so easily they have not acquired the basic skills to play the class.
A water armor makes a big difference and you can get that from overlook dungeon (if you have the correct shield you can just outpot and don't actually need to move). Most players are going to need phen effect from an equip. Then you will need pots and learn to spam pots. Finally you need to use some of the strategies ppl have posted above.
I am not being elitist when i say this test should not be changed, it is great a checkpoint to ensure any warlocks have a bare minimum in skills and equips. I say this from the perspective of someone who failed the wiz test for hours and eventually figured it out through trial and error.
If you can't get past this test, you probably won't get much further as warlock anyway. Dumbing things down any further really just harms new players and i feel that is one reason many new players are failing to thrive.
I think thats a good estimation of it.
As pointed out many times before it sometimes doesnt come do ton skill honestly.
I realize this much more now when I got my +9 cod on my sorc, man did that change things.
The higher level the gear, honestly the easier the test would be.
I still havent went back to change my baby wiz to sorc, but I bet if it I did it now with this gear, it would be quite simple for me.
I have played mages to leech people since 02, yet I failed this test many times, to say "skill all it takes is skill" its quite simply a stupid comment. To say that its weeding out the weak, its not, Hell if that was the case I wish that damn AB test was a million times worse. Do you know on a daily basis I end up with fail full support priests. This game isnt about weeding out weak players. Just like all those fail priests, they will learn as they play.
I am sure that next time I take the test I will pass it for sure.
I thought it was funny to see this topic still hitting the top of the page. Then again I know there are a lot of new players that started with wiz (basically a great lvling and building up character) and are failing the test.
Good luck to you all, I hope you pass it eventually and get to party with your lock.
Hoping everyone else find the gear or tactics they need to pass this test.

Can someone let this thread die already? So many suggestions have been posted already, and this is just ending up to be QQ threads for those who keep failing.
Agreed. The battle portion of the test is ridiculously easy. I passed the battle first time, used 49 white pots (4 of them I had to use to get SP regen back to kill the crystal at the end) I didn't even have aqua armor (I got waterballed twice, about 15~20 pots a waterball to tank it.) and only have 30 vit.
What the ef is Storm gust. Who uses that? I rolled the test without even learning SG.
I screwed up so bad I watched the recording I made and facepalm hard. I miss-clicked out of SW like 6 times, double-clicked the scrolls wasting them and in general played like CRAP and still past it first time.
All you need is phen, SW, JT, FN, a bunch of white pots and a few dozen blue gems. Everything else is just fancy extras. I would recommend aqua armor if you aren't confident but still.
Y PPL SO STRUGGLE?

WARLOCK TEST!! BANZAI!! BANZAI!!
PvM Warlock leveling requires pressing only 2-3 buttons anyway. Frost Misty > Mystical Amplification > Jack Frost, sometimes just FM > JF if you got a decent SoD, Kronos, or Thorn Staff. Throw a Crimson Rock/Chain Lightning every now and then for some variety or if you're leveling in Scarabas.... Yeah, the WL's path to 150 is pretty much effortless. The test is just there to balance it all out.

I got it on my second try itself
Just get in cast SG lvl 3-4
Meanwhile kill the aquas with chain lightning you can one shot them
Then go to a corner, Quick SG + JT and maybe burn some pots.
Repeat the whole thing twice. And you are a Warlock B-)
