I enjoy playing this game but those spam bots are just making things harder for me than it should be. It is almost impossible for me to leave a merchant vending in Prontera for a long time because it always get disconnected. Spam bots lag me A LOT and they are just so annoying. I always have to /nm and block whisper every spam bots I pass by in Prontera or else my screen freezes, lag badly or I get disconnected. Buying zeny is heavely advertized because of this bots and people will continue buying zeny until those spam bots are banned for good. Is the GM team trying to do something with those spam bots or what? >.<

I kind of wonder... If kRO isn't really forthcoming with a server-side solution for the spam, if iRO wouldn't be able to employ someone capable to make a small, legal add-on available for automatically blocking incoming spam. I mean, there is that other thing that people use to block it, but not everyone wants to dip their toes into that water.

Supposedly we're working on a way of automatically blocking them (server side, this time), so we'll have to see how that goes.

If that works out, I'm sure the community will be incredibly grateful for it.

Even just integrating a client-side word filter a la RCX would be fantastic

kRO doesn't have these type of problems because you're required to have a SSN to even be able to play.

So this is not a high priority for them to fix, iRO can not directly modify the client/server without their permission. Its a cumbersome problem.

EDIT: Also, Captchas don't really work well anyway though, because of the proliferation of captcha entry services.

EDIT2: For a client side RCX type solution, its being looked into.

How many people on Ygg/Valk do you think are botting professionally and are willing to pay money to captcha entering services to continue doing so? There are soooo many people using off the shelf free software for botting because there are no repercussions. iRO is even listed as 'unoffically allowing of botting' on certain botting sites. It's absolutely killing Ygg's economy-- inflation has doubled to quadrupled the price of staple cards and gear in the last month alone.

There are many ways to combat bots that are far less annoying than captcha. Only major thing in the way of iRO fixing the bot problem is their lack of being able to modify the server and clients without permission.

I went to that site and contacted their Live Support and told them to GTFO out of RO. I do that to all the sites these zeny bots advertise.
