*Note*
I dont claim to know what im doing at all...this will just be what i experience playing through. I know people will level faster then me but that is not the purpose!

I have chosen to play the summoner as my new class and will try to post what I find as i go through the game playing. All things tried are just from my own testing other then seeking help from jah about attack speed increases with shaman xspam and snare shot speeds!

Currently Level 32

My current skill build...

Thoughts on skills...

Shaman

Summon Mist (3/5 for prereq) - I find little use for this, the following summon I found to be much, much better.

Summon Dyke (5/5) - So far I have found this is by far the best low-level summon. Damage scales with yours and has high survivability for low level missions so far.

Summon Mastery (2/2) - I plan on getting all of these to increase the amount of summons I can use at one time.

Dragon Tooth (3/5 prereq) - Undecided about the skill...seems like a less effective multi shot, with a VERY short cooldown.

Spell Trap (3/5 prereq*) - So far the only catch ive seen, great for holding mobs to finish off with Spike Wake, thinking about maxing for pvp to hold longer still need to test.

Stronger Spell (1/5 prereq) - Just added for prereq into Spike Wave.

Ground Piston (1/5 prereq) - Just added for prereq into Spike Wave, hard to hit mobs with.

Air Splash (3/5 prereq) - Added for prereq, only use when someone launches boss and cant hit with anything else.

Spike Wave (5/5) - Main damage skill so far, very long cast time but hits multiple mobs, multiple times.

Summoner- This is alot of testing for me, added to skills to see how effective they are.

Gather! (1/1) - Recalls summons back on top of your character, very helpful if they get away from you.

Summon Doonamik (1/5) - Dont get it. Stick with the Dyke its best by far.

Strong Leather (1/1) - Prereq.

Steal Crow (1/1) - Adds a damage skill to Doonamik, will add to this next level up to test.

Advance Summon Mastery (2/2) - More summons the more better.

Inferno (3/5) - Very Good damage to stunned groups or groggy boss, 3/5 to advance down skill chain.

Volcano (1/5) - added to test, very poor skill, acts like old warrior WoE, will continue down chain to test others.

Meteor Rain (1/5) - Re-skinned blizzard, decent damage good to fill on mobs.

General Info:
I always run with 2 Dykes as of level 28, they are by far the best i have found. They have knockdown skills and a multi hit skill.

Mobbing:
My strategy so far is to lock mobs with Spell Trap, then kill with Spike Wave. So far have not come across a group that doesn't die in 1 cast.

Bossing:
My strategy so far is to lock the mobs surrounding the boss with Spell Trap then kill the mobs with Spike Wave. When the mobs are dead you can Gather your summons onto the boss and begin x-spamming him while the cooldowns refresh until you can start to "groggy" him/her. When the boss Becomes enraged and starts gaining "groggy" I cast another Spike Wave onto him and x-spam until they are dazed. When the daze happens I inferno until dead.

Gear
The only thing I can say for gear is get the aqua weapon as soon as you can. It is FAR superior then what you will find until after level 40. Enchat up to +4-5 if you wish although 2g+ per try is expensive for new characters.

That is all for now! I will update regularly as I find new information about the class out :o

Good job moco. It'll come useful as you find better stuff.

Not trying to hijack the thread here, but I'd like to add my findings, if you don't mind. Just hit level 40 today, and I definitely could not live without Air Smash. 4.5 second cooldown, hits 7 enemies 5 times. It's a great mob killer, easy to position, and you're practically invulnerable while using it.

-Summons
I used a zero-summon build for most of the first two classes; I felt like I was just waiting forever for them to kill anything. I hated summoning Dire Mist over and over, Dyke didn't seem to be killing all that fast, Doonamic knocks enemies down too much. I admit I didn't try Kalki at all, but I felt like I was doing fine without summons. I'll try it sometime probably. I do have the Blesser, and I plan on getting Golgon and seeing what all the fuss is about (once I am high enough level to max out all his innates).

-Casting time skills
I do like Earthquake and Meteor Rain, even though they have cast times, it's something to do if my Air Smash was just used, and there's another group close by. Also good for bosses, I usually use Spike Wave, Air Smash, Meteor, Air Smash, Earthquake, Air Smash, etc. Dragon Tooth is good too- if I get 2-3 enemies close enough, it can kill them all if I don't miss. Also good for bosses. Inferno has "no" cast time, and does good damage, but you have to be pretty close to use it, and you have to remain stationary. I usually just used it on groggy bosses. I do use Spell Trap, but the damage doesn't scale with your stats, which makes it do less and less damage compared to other skills.

-Future plans for build
Definitely getting Rolling Stone, it sounds like Ninja's Log but with stun instead of slow. I plan on maxing out Blesser and Golgon, as well as their innates. If I need more SP, I will probably drop Spike Wave, Meteor Rain, and Earthquake. I feel that Stone, Smare, and maybe Mega Inferno would be a good enough rotation to throw in with my constant Air Smash.

We went opposite directions and still got to the same end (lvl 40) :) I only have 1 point into air smash just as a prereq and use meteor rain as my main kill other then summons. I also plan on getting golgon because he gets 100k+ hp and plan on using snare shot as main source of dps

I just wanna add something: Doonamiks are wonderful when in pairs in F6. Quite useful till level 42, after that, the only summon you'll need might be Kaiki because of it's high defense, HP and attack, Golgon, which sounds pretty awesome, and POSSIBLY the healing summon. From I've read, it's not that good, but who knows, one day they might change it.

EDIT: Spell Trap becomes useless at later levels, because of the set DPS it deals. It's only real use might be immobilizing.

no, but the buffs are. Also, blessing of spirit gives you 30% phy/magic defense boost, not an attack boost like it claims. Blessing of spirit goes off your base def, whereas grace of mother earth goes off your ma magic attack. Its only a 5% oost, but ill take it for now.

I did a couple resets, tried some things out. Kalki is pretty good, when I was 41 he did about 3k damage per hit to a group, and he hit twice. Only problem is, he knocks them down (good for F6 I guess). I switched over to using 2 Dykes for now, and they are basically there for cleanup. I'm 44 now, after a couple levels I'm going to try out Golgon and his buffs. Smare Shot is pretty stupid at level 1-2, but at 3 it shoots twice, and 5 it will shoot three shots. can't wait for that. Oh, and each shot can hit multiple enemies too, if they're close enough. Looks like they hit 3, maybe more.

I love this class, but it feels like it was designed to be skill reset a lot while leveling. Twin feels the same way, but I've been liking Summoner more and more, and Twin just doesn't feel nearly as fun to me.

i am 46 now ill update this in a little while

I still use 2 dykes as the frost move they do hits 5-6 times for 3k each. And golgon only hits 1 time. Smare lvl 5 is amazing and you need to max it asap, it makes bossing soooo fast.

Yeah, I just hit 46 too, Golgon seems goofy until level 50 when you can finally get his buffs, and Smare is definitely the skill to have at 5 now. I got the poison shield thingie from the 2nd job, it does about 1400 to enemies that get too close to me.
