Well...

Hunt the Golden Porings, Collect the Blue cards to spell out RWC2011 and take them to RWC2011 Agent SW of the Prontera Spawn in area to get random restoratives!

I think they're cute! Although, I just spent 30 lazy minutes looking for them and only found 3 (one of which was being wacked by someone else at the time). It doesn't seem like a good event for stocking up on supplies, just an extra thing to have in game: see a golden poring? Lucky you!

I think it should be made permanent. Maybe have them rare like an MVP - spawn 1 every 12-24 hours. Have them on all maps, including towns. Maybe they could drop Slim whites @ 90%, gift boxes @ 10%, blue boxes @ 5%, purple boxes @ 1%, jewelry boxes @ .1% and OCAs @ .01%. They shouldn't be farmable. Just something fun to have around that might prove to be a lucky windfall every once in awhile (even for newbie novices).

Well no I shouldn't say that.
Its unbelievable how many people don't, or maybe I should say WONT, read the patch notes.
Its like a few friends I know, I got tired of telling them the details and to just read the patch notes.
They'll even give the impression that they're listening to this advice, but the next day, and every day I do this, like an Alzheimer patient, they come to ask me about such things once more, unaware of the existence of either the forums or the wiki or the DAMN PATCHER WINDOW WHEN YOU START THE GAME.

Haha! I felt pretty much that when I was helping my friends ranger finish her bio3 TI. Poring never saw it coming!
