Guys I think you are misunderstanding heim a bit. He isn't asking if this event is a good idea or not. He is asking if he implements this what items would you want as a reward suitable to risk breaking your items. As I have stated before my list below is only an example. Yes it is not the best of rewards but hey that is why I am asking your opinions!

Although the idea you have does give me an idea for a possible spin off.
Take gear: to a special NPC (gear can be gotten 1 per day via quest, or purchased from kafra shop)

NPC spam upgrades it until it breaks, where you failed is how many "points" that char gets. If you get high enough you get instant prizes. Points could be spent on some sort of daily prizes (not eden merit badges as those have too much value for a free repeatable giveaway.).

This is quite a good take on the event. It allows you to save up points for the higher tier items! A point system, that is dependent on how many tries you make, will get people to upgrade at +0. Then you could give them 1 point per upgrade attempt and extra at breaking the item on the 5th attempt and higher in a similar fashion:

Guess my english is worse than expected q.q

Ok, a little step by step list:

- Whole event needs 2 Quest, a new non-upgradeable Headgear (Let's call it Fluffy Hairband) and one special Upgrade NPC (Let's call him "Mighty Hammer's Son")
- To participate, you need to do one of the quests first, receiving an "Fluffy Hairband Upgrade Certificate" first. Fluffy Hairband Upgrade Certificate is Charbound.
( - Alternative, you can purchase this Certificate in the Kafra Shop)
- Each Character can only get one "Fluffy Hairband Upgrade Certificate", if he has more (Kafra Shop), it's useless.
- The Character needs to aquire the Fluffy Hairband afterwards. Fluffy Hairband is Charbound as well.
- To get this, the character can do a quest ingame. This quest is repeatable after 23/24h.
- Alternative, the character can purchase this headgear in the Kafra Shop.
- With Certificate and Headgear, the player can go to Mighty Hammer's Son. He sees that the Character has the Certificate in his inventory, which allows him to interact with the NPC.
- The NPC can only Upgrade the Fluffy Hairband, that's not upgradeable by any other NPC besides him.
- For an Upgrade try, the player needs the Hairband, an Elunium (Enriched Elunium / Special KS item - don't make it too KS related though :/ ) and of course the Certificate.
- The NPC takes the Fluffy Hairband and the Elunium. The Upgrade has the normal Upgrade Standarts - means it's safe up to +4, but can break afterwards.
- If the Upgrade succeed, Player loose an Elunium, keep the Certificate and get the upgraded Fluffy Hairband.
- If the Upgrade fails, Player loose the Elunium and the Fluffy Hairband, still keeps the Certificate. (Again: The Certificate is just an "Entrance Ticket" to participate in the event)
- At the end of the event, item logs get checked. Every player who has a Fluffy Hairband and a Fluffy Hairband Upgrade Certificate in it's inventory get's an price regarding the upgrade of the hairband, starting with +7. The player keeps the Fluffy Hairband, but Fluffy Hairband Upgrade Certificate's get deleted (they're useless now)
- Only one Fluffy Hairband each Character counts (the higher one).
- After the Event, Fluffy Hairband becomes fully tradeable and upgradeable.

Fluffy Hairband should have or gain nice stats for it's upgrade, an effect like Yggdrassil Crown or Cat Baret, that increases with every upgrade, so that upgrading the Headgear makes sense in the long run, too.

Every upgrade attempt could give Eden Merit Badges, successful upgrades could give various other prizes. 'other prizes' could be new stuff we haven't seen before. Stuff like those "hat boxes" and whatnot that spawn a random equipment. Something like a jewelry box for +7, +8 maybe give like 500 of some 3 weight consumable that restores 10% of your HP on use, like "WoE Energy Shot" (or korean rice cake)-- basically a successor for white potion in renewal, some new box for +9 that gives you a random premium hat we haven't seen before, +10 could be something really cool like a cert that guarantees one 100% success +1 upgrade to anything up to +14 (so that people can +14 their +13 items, or finally +10 something they can't seem to get past +9, haha).

The event headgear could be something worth +10ing, too, like maybe it drops the WoE Energy Shot at 0.1%*(refine-6)^2 rate when killing monsters (0.1% at +7, 0.4% at +8, 0.9% at +9, 1.6% at +10, and 2.5% at +11, 3.6% at +12, 4.9% at +13, 6.4% at +14). Effect would be capped at +14. Hat wouldn't have a slot. May even have drawbacks like receive +10% damage from all enemies. Basically keep it from being an ideal leveling hat. Let people grind with it to get their woe supply.

Jayrad: Yes it can be scary to upgrade sometimes, but there is also a huge surplus of many gears in the game as the odds of them dropping are pretty high considering how often they can be killed. Plus at this point it is possible to upgrade safely, granted you will need to potentially buy some stuff from the kafra shop or from other players, but it is possible.


NoxiousOrchid : Yes it is possible, but what sort of upgrading? Certificate, HD, HE or normal? And what sort of item would you want to give out? I'm intrigued by what may be in your mind's eye theater regarding this, so please share.

If i may, if you will...., may i see the Planet Ragnarok's Event Sheet for the month of September, to addition the beginning of Main Events by surprise?

It's based on an Elite Mecernary assignment completed. If it's location rings true, 1st Place of three Places would be appointed
responsible for The Solar Flame retreival(Winner& Guild needed- Tournament Winner- Mission HARD), and if any still exist a day before Planet Ragnarok Battle Games, as it was many rains ago, it can be reforged again.

Instead, flourish monster's gut with Solor Flames, which drops based on the next lvl of Monster count defeats. After about an hour's moment concerning the event, label the idem special NPC sell to only, and raise the price... The Solar Flame isn't to be kept by all passing travelers, yet there's an understanding behind it.
During the latest hours leading to the Main Event, raise the pricing higher to sell the idem to only Kafra NPC Organization.

Three Solar Flames will be required, if elite Blacksmiths are to reforged it, which would be Awarded to Tournament Winner, and escorted by The Three Kingdoms who understood, such an idem decorations was needed for something Special, thus supplying another occasion.
During the Battle Games, the three choosen & Guild or Parties, would been granted access to a restricted area,PVP), and may find themselves dancing with defensive offense, until it's time to crown the Winner. (The Choosen Three will be awarded Planet Ragnarok's Highest Honor)
However, if The Solar Flame cease to exist, forward phases wont be possible, and Who's not at fault?

What Clogon posted is pretty much what I was thinking. Using regular Elunium only and zeny per attempt to gain points that you can turn in for prizes. It would be nice if that headgear that is used gains benefits to being refined to higher levels like Rutana said. Something that is useful for most classes if not all.

Maybe use a low amount of points for consumables like a small amount of strawberries or condensed white pots to help newer players level (one thing I get asked often is if they can have some zeny for pots) or to sell for zeny. Use higher ranges of points for things like upgrade certificates and card albums.

As for a cool down for the quest, I think 24 hours is harsh if you are able to buy the headgear from kafra. Maybe lower it to 12 hours instead.
