Hey guys,

So I'm definitely a newbie in the post category, but I spend a lot of time reading in the forums. With all the searching I've done I have yet to find all the answers to my questions regarding ASPD (Attack Speed) of Priests/Invokers. I thought I would try opening up a topic so we could share ideas etc on the topic, and maybe I could even find some answers

What I've been wondering is...

Is there a (confirmed) cap on ASPD?
Anyone care to share their record high ASPD?
How many of you prefer other bonuses over ASPD and why?

(semi-off topic question that kinda falls in line that I wonder)

Does anyone prefer to go for Crit over ASPD, and how useful do you guys find crit on our toons.

All and any information is greatly appreciated.. I wanna get some feedback and answers before I continue with my build :(

1. I don't believe there is a confirmed cap on ASPD, on any server.
2. My record-high isn't very high, but probably somewhere around 250%.
3. See number 4.
4. Are you trying for a PvE or a PvP build?

PvE: ASPD is decent, but crit is better, IMO. ASPD is limited by the FPS cap and your computer's specs, while CR and CD are not. If you plan on using CR and CD at all, I'd shoot for 175-200% ASPD, a good chunk of Agi/CR, and somewhere around 400% CD. Using these stats, I can motor my way through solo runs in pretty much any map and tear most normal bosses at my level apart in ~15 seconds.

PvP: ASPD is pointless, IMO. X-spam in PvP has a "cap" on it that lowers the damage significantly shortly after you begin using it, and you have to wait for a few seconds in between X-spam volleys for the cap to be lifted -- not to mention the fact that it's not often in PvP that you'll find you have time to safely sit there and x-spam someone, regardless (if you're playing against players who are skilled in PvP, at any rate). Again, I prefer CR/CD over ASPD as far as offense is concerned, but honestly I wouldn't worry too much about going offensive as a priest/invoker in PvP, b/c the class is far better suited to a support role (curing, healing, buffing, magnet, quagmire, witch's curse, barbarian, etc.). It is *possible* to be an offensive priest/invoker, but don't expect your DPS to be as good as it is in PvE -- the "cap" nerf on X-spam saw to that.

I'm in the process at the moment from switching between Attack speed to CR/CD.

Something that may prove useful for some, is if anyone could post their equipment builds?

i don't pvp at all and generally i go one of 2 routes depending on what i'm doing

1) farming for things few or many levels under my level:
in this case i bring out my aspd gear and i do find it makes the runs faster

2) boss hunting (bone dragon/paris):
since i have a friend thats more or less my dps when we go boss hunting, i go full hp gear, everything i can to bring out as much health as possible so that my slow and instant heals makes us invincible. with my current gear i reach about 30k health and its enough to more or less never have to worry about dying

Thanks so much. This Post was very helpful ^^

I am strictly a PvE build. I used to be really into PvP, but just kinda lost interest for a few reasons.

We kinda share the same general idea when it comes to the PvE build you discussed here. I came here looking for answers, because I'm always hesitant in finalizing anything lol. I pretty much wanted to go with ASPD until I felt it was time to cap it, and then do what I could to up my crit. But That's what leads me to another question. Whats the best way to achieve a decent crit build while sustaining my ASPD. I'll be doing some more reading over the next few days and see what I can find. If you have any suggestions as far as equipment, etc, that would be great ^^

Thanks again for sharing, it's very much appreciated!

I don't think there is a need for ASPD cap.

As when you have high ASPD,
the limiting factor become the performance of your computer.

So,even you get more ASPD, it won't be increasing your damage output.

(But I believe a higher ASPD somehow brings a higher Cirt. rate)

asp is actually very important as long as your computer can handle it. It increases my dps by quite a bit.
