Merchant to LUK Brewer Alchemist/Forger Blacksmith

I am a noob to Merchant class and am still choosing which to go to.
Merchant to Alchemist
Stat build for Potion Making is LUK 99 and DEX 80-ish?
I understand that the LUK brewer is a pain to level-up unless leeching EXP.
Merchant to Blacksmith
Stat Build for Pure Forgers is LUK 99 and DEX 99?
I also understand that Pure Forgers is a pain to level-up unless leeching EXP.
I have not chosen which path to take in the Merchant class.
LUK Brewer Alchemists have offensive/support/money-maker skills as a Geneticist - cart skills and special pharmacy (zeny maker).
Pure Forger Blacksmiths have very limited offensive/support/forging skills as a Mechanic (is this true?).
Any suggestions? I currently use Two-Axe as a leveling weapon.
I do not like Mammonite skill. I like Potion Making skill for Alchemists but I also like the Hammer Fall skill of Blacksmiths. I am torn in half between the two.

Leveling a blacksmith is way more fun than leveling an alchy. The monetary potential if you're unranked in both is higher with a smith but if you can get a ranked potter, ranked slim whites can make you more money.

Thanks. With renewal, it's actually possible to play a pure forge/potter with pure dex/luk. Previously, str was your primary stat to dish out a lot for damage but now it's just a modifier with your weapon atk weighing in more. Sure you'd still do a lot more damage if you had 100 str vs 1 str (about double your ctrl-click dmg), but it doesn't mean that it's impossible to level. Factor in the easy exp requirements to hit 99 now and you're pretty much set.

What is "ranked" or "ranked potter"?
