This is just some useful information I've learned and collected by making my own alchemists. The info here ranges from quest skills to the job change guide to homunculus info, so I hope it comes in handy for future chemists. Yeah, I know several other sites have job change guides, but I'm putting this one here so you don't have to look all over for one (also, its easier for the newbies to locate).

Quest Skills:

Change Cart
Posted Image
You will need: 20 animal skins, 10 iron, 50 trunks
Level Requirements: Merchant Job 30+
Talk to Charlron in Alberta (119,221) and bring him the items to learn Change Cart, the merchant class skill that enables characters to change the appearance of their pushcart.

Crazy Uproar
Posted Image
You will need: 7 pearls, 50 mushroom spores, 1 banana juice
Level Requirements: Merchant Job 15+
Talk to Necko in Alberta (83,96) and bring him the items to learn Crazy Uproar which will increase STR by 4 for 5 minutes.

Cart Revolution
Posted Image
You will need: 1 banana juice, 20 iron, 30 sticky mucus, 20 fwings, 5 tentacles, 2 grape juice.
Level Requirements: Merchant Job 35+
Talk to Gershaun in Alberta (232,106) and bring him all those items to learn Cart Revolution which inflicts splash damage to all enemies in a 9 cell area around a target. You must have a Pushcart equipped to use this skill. Cart Revolution inflicts an amount of damage equal to 150% of caster`s normal attack added to the weight of items carried in the Pushcart. The target hit by this skill is forced 2 cells backward.

Resistance Potion Creation
Posted Image Posted Image
You will need: 5 yellow gemstones, 4 empty potion bottles, 10 moth dust, 10 heart of mermaid, 20 maneater blossoms, 1 geek glasses.
Level Requirements: Alchemist Job 40+
Go to Juno, and enter the building on the left side of the central area (95,184). Talk to Pisruik in the back of the room, he'll ask you to collect the items. Once you bring them to him he'll quiz you on what items he asked you to bring, then give him the items. After giving them to him, he will break his glasses and ask you bring him a pair he can use (the Geek Glasses). After that you're done and he gives you the Elemental Potion Manual.

The Alchemist Test:

Posted Image

When ready to become an Alchemist, proceed to Al De Baran. The building in the southwest corner is the Alchemist guild. Inside, talk to the blond female NPC with mini glasses to sign up to become an Alchemist. She will request:

Job 40 Merchant or higher, 50k Zeny, and one of the following:

7 Berserk Potions (Comodo Item Shop)
100 Mini Furnaces (Geffen Blacksmith Guild)
750 Fire Arrows (Izlude Dungeon Tool Dealer)
randomly decided by the NPC at sign up

or

a Hammer of Blacksmith and an Old Magicbook

Once the player has finished registering for the quest, go downstairs to a star shaped room. Head towards the second room on the right side wall to talk with Rasputin.
Posted Image

Rasputin will mention ill prepared Alchemists and then give a math oriented exam. This exam consists of two addition-subtraction questions, three multiplication-division questions, two questions pertaining to discount-overcharge, and three questions about the DEF and weight of certain items and armors. The player will need to have at least 80% of the answers correct in order to pass. However, if the player is Job 50, they can skip this part of the exam.

Math questions:
13+25+37+48 = 123
12+23+34+45 = 114
1,000-58-214-416 = 312
1,000-36-227-348 = 389
14*17*3 = 714
12*24*3 = 864
10,530/3/5/2 = 351
9765/3/5/7 = 93
(35*19) - (1,792/7) = 409
(47*28) - (1376/4) = 972
(2,368/8) + (24*17) = 704
(2,646/7) + (13*28) = 742

Discount questions:
Red Potion (12), Fly Wing (5) Butterfly Wing (1) = 909z
Red Potion (6), Green Potion (7) Fly Wing (8) = 798z
Green Potion (15), Magnifier (6), Trap (4) = 934z

Weight questions:
3 Ring Pommel Sabers, 4 Caps, 2 Boots = 550
2 Ring Pommel Sabers, 3 Caps, 3 Boots = 480
3 Scimitars, 2 Helms, Coat = 450

Defense questions:
Buckler, Coat, Gas Mask, Big Ribbon, Fillet, Sakkat, Glasses = 20
Biretta, Manteau, Opera Mask, Ribbon, Muffler, Boots, Earmuffs = 20
Mirror Shield, Leather Jacket, Mr. Smile, Silk Robe, Wedding Veil, Muffler, Eye Patch = 12

Profit questions:
5 Helms Profit (35,200-33,440)*5 = 8,800z
4 Padded Armor Profit (38,400-36,480)*4 = 7,680z
3 Tights Profit (56,800-53,960)*3 = 8,520

Potion Quest :
Head to the next room and talk with Darwin.
Posted Image

Darwin will explain the basics for creating potions. The player will need the following items for this part: 1 Red Herb, 1 Yellow Herb, 1 White Herb, 3 Empty Bottles, and 3 Medicine Bowls which can be bought upstairs from the male Alchemist NPC.
He will then ask questions regarding potion creation after he explains the process.

You can skip this part and the rest of the job change quests like I do by giving an 'Illusion Flower' to Darwin. If you do, Darwin will instantly send you the job change NPC.

* Mixture and Counteragent Quest
Move to the next room to meet with Van Hellmont. The player will need the following for this part of the quest. It is not actually required that the player make counteragents or mixtures, the player just needs these items to do this part of the quest: 2 Alcoho,l 1 Detrimindextra, 1 Karvodailnirol, and 2 Empty Bottles

With these items head to Alberta Inn (alberta 102,222) and go upstairs to the second room on the right (alberta_in 133,55). Talk to the NPC near the corner (Louitz) and he will tell the player to talk to Aure Dupon in Geffen. Head towards Geffen and talk to the NPC (181,114) near the eastern Kafra, who will tell the player to talk to Morgenstein, the crazy scientist. Morgenstein (141,140) is located on the second floor of the Blacksmith Guild in southeast Geffen (181,62). Talk to the scientist to learn about Counteragents and Mixtures. It is suggested that the player also buy 5 Mini Furnaces while you are in the Blacksmith Guild for another part of the quest. The player can buy these on the first floor of the Blacksmith guild. Head back to Alde to talk with Van Hellmont. He'll ask the player two questions pertaining what was just learned from the Dye quest. For reference:

Dye Quest : Counteragent = Detrimindextra (1) + Alcohol (1) and Mixture = Karvodailnirol (1) + Alcohol (1)

* Word Puzzle
In the next room Nicholas will give simple word puzzles which include unscrambling names and items in Ragnarok and other word related puzzles.

Puzzle Answers:

Set 1
Q: m p d i c f a r o g n k w a s
A: packman

Q: g b n o p r e f a r e t a s k
A: ragnarok

Q: u g n i s j e k c e o g n d p

Q: t v a r m e g p h e u b o y l
A: ?

Q: q z a h n a i n b r d p t n c
A: ?

Once the player finishes this part of the quest talk to him again and he will give the player several items which are needed for the Juno part of the quest. Do not sell or store these items!!

* Juno Quest
Nicholas will tell the player to go meet Bajin and Bain in Juno. Before heading out however, make sure to have the following items along with the items from Nicholas: 5 Coal, 5 Mini Furnaces, and 2000 Zeny
Head to Juno, which is the city north of Al De Baran. The player can either use the Kafra Warp Service or walk there. Enter the building in the southwestern and go upstairs to find two brothers. Give them all the items and they will attempt to make Gold. Once the experiment is complete, head back to Al De Baran and talk with Nicholas again. This experiment fails most of the time and the player will receive a variety of items from iron ores to gold depending on luck.

Job Change
Head to the second floor of the Alchemist guild and talk to the NPC with rainbow colored hair to change jobs.
Posted Image

If the player is Job 50, he/she will receive a Condensed Potion Creation Guide (worth 240,000z). If the player chooses to change to Alchemist at any level lower than 50, he/she will receive a random potion manual which are 100,000z each and sold by the male Alchemist on the ground floor.

CONGRATS! You've become an alchemist!

New Homunculus Info and Guide!

Bioethics

[lhz_in01: 35, 225]

There will be 4 portals after you enter the Bio-Life Lab. Enter the 1 o'clock portal and locate Kellasus.
Posted Image

[lhz_in01: 224, 140]

Talk to him until he finds you irritating. Locate Skrajjad, who is right below Kellasus.
Posted Image

[lhz_in01: 225, 122]

Talk to him, and he will request you locate Keshibien. Locate Keshibien, who is to the left of Kellasus.
Posted Image

[lhz_in01: 204, 138]

Talk to him, and he will ask you to find Broncher in Lighthalzen. Go to the Lighthalzen Restaurant, which is located right above the center Kafra in the Hotel, and find Broncher in the right room.
Posted Image

[lhz_in02: 278, 273]

Talk to him, and learn about the Homunculus. Return to Kellasus and speak with him. Tell him that you have learned the details of the Homunculus, and you will have to answer three of his questions. The answers are: Vaporize, Embryo, and Homunculus Resurrection. He'll still refuse to teach you, so now you have to find Kellasus' family (specifically, his son Koring), and speak with them. The house is in the 1 o'clock direction in Lighthalzen, right behind the Police Department.

[lhz_in03: 106, 34]

Return to Kellasus once again. Talk to him, and there should be a new option available: "I want to talk about something else." Then, proceed to talk to him until you have gained the Bioethics skill which will allow you to summon a homunculus.

The Homunculi

To call out a Homunculus, an Embryo is required. These can be purchased from other Alchemists or self-made. In order to make an Embryo, an Alchemist must use the Skill Prepare Potion with the following materials purchasable from the Al De Baran Alchemist guild [alde_alche: 35, 179]:

Dew of Yggdrasil
Seed of Life
Glass Tube
Medicine Bowl
Potion Creation Guide
Success rates of creating embryos are affected mainly by the Alchemist's DEX and LUK.

Once an Embryo is obtained, use the skill Call Homunculus to summon the Homunculus. In the Pre-Noghalt patch, there will be a probability of failures when summoning Homunculi. With the Noghalt patch, however, the probability of failure is replaced with unique sprites of the original Homuncli. There are 4 basic types of Homunculi â??Amistr, Vanilmirth, Filir, and Lifâ?? and the chance of getting each is random. Although not completely proven, it is a popular "fact" that the summoner's stats plays in a role in the probability of summoning each Homunculus.

Homunculus Commands and Artificial Intelligence

Here is a listing of all manual functions with the default AI. In general, there will be no need for any other manual functions in most Custom AIs

Alt + Single Right Click: Target monster
Alt + Double Right Click: Attack monster
Alt + T: Standby, idle/passive mode, cancels all commands and returns to master
Alt + Right Click Ground: Move to location (15 tile range)
Alt + R: Information window

AI
The AI is the brain behind the Homunculus. All Homunculus behavior is controlled by an AI script. There is a choice between the use of the default script or a custom-made script. The Default Script is both poorly made and simple. The Primary problems with the default script are that the Homunculus will either kill steal everything (default AIed Vanilmirth and Filir) or will not attack anything at all (default AIed Amistr and Lif). Hence it is reconmended to make a custom AI or use a premade one made by users. To switch between the Default AI and the User AI, use the /hoai command. The current two most popular AI available publically is Mir AI and Rampage AI; both of which are linked at the very bottom of the page.

Installing AI
Once AI script is downloaded, go to the default RO directory. This is generally located at C/Program Files/Gravity/Ragnarok Online/AI. Insert the downloaded AI Script into the USER_AI folder and restart Ragnarok and resummon the Homunculus. This should be done everytime there is a change in script. While there are infinite possibilities with AI scripts, it is necessary to understand that there are things it can and cannot do. These limitations are what separates it from bots.

Possibilities
Auto Aid Potion
Auto Cart Revolution
Auto Spells
Auto Resurrect Homunculus

*Impossibilities
Auto Feeding
Auto Looting
Auto Casting Ground Spells
Homunculus maintain its AI when out of range of the Alchemist
Having the Alchemist move around. (Except when auto casting the Castling Skill.)
* These actions are considered botting and are punishable by banishment from RO!

Feeding and Intimacy

Much like pets, Homunculus require feeding. Feed the Homunculus when its hunger is between 11~25 to get 1 full point of intimacy. Feeding at the other times will give less than a full point and may even reduce the intimacy. If one forgets to feed the Homunculus, its intimacy will decrease, and it will leave the master if it goes below zero intimacy.

* 1~10% Hunger - .5 Intimacy
* 11~25% Hunger - 1 Intimacy
* 26%~75% Hunger - .75 Intimacy
* 76%~90% Hunger - (minus) .05 Intimacy
* 91%~100% Hunger - (minus) .5 Intimacy

Intimacy is crucial for evolution, obtaining the final skill, and AFKing. Intimacy has not been proven to affect Homunculus stat growth. Intimacy points will not show in the Homunculus window. However for each interval of intimacy points the Homunculus has, the window will show:

* 0-3= Hate with a passion
* 4-10 = Hate
* 11-100 = Awkward
* 101-250 = Shy
* 251-750 = Neutral
* 751-910 = Cordial
* 911-1000 = Loyal

Dying and or vaporizing does not affect intimacy. Stressing it (other than using ultimate skills) is the only way that to lower its intimacy. One can stress the Homunculus by not feeding it (hunger < 11) or overfeeding it (hunger > 75). Once the Homunculus is Loyal, a Stone of Sage can be used to morph them into their evolved forms.

When AFKing you lose 480 Intimacy for a full 24 hours of starving.
