Variable casting time reductions stack. Fixed casting time reduction doesn't. And yes it does affect all skills. It is just like having a 1.67x Beelze card.

Sound Amplifiers can be good for Ranger as well - to reduce ABolt and AStorm variable cast time.

Are the fixed:variable ratio of the ranger skills the same as the intended for any class? [20% fixed, 80% variable] *going to check the balance list*

A skill like +50% exp and damage to brute monsters would be nice for rangers, might actually motivate some of us to level ours.

In this video it shows how rangers can be after skill balance. The damage seems to be fairly more decent compared to now.

Its pretty okay now :angel: Just got my elven bow early. Don't wanna get caught in the spike of prices when balance nears.

Out of curiosity, is it painful to use a trapping ranger without sp-regen gear? In other words, the rideword hat =P I see it's coming out with the early Christmas box, but I try not to spend a crapload of KP to buy things....and in game, by today's standards, I'm in the poorhouse, so buying one with zeny wouldn't work out either. Oh, and I suck at over-upgrading anything...although I guess you could still use it in a non +9 form?

Lack of sp gears such as that, and the fact that it seems I'm consigned to solely trapping to make the most out of my ranger has had me leave mine, basically newly changed from sniper to ranger, untouched. I may be a simplistic noob for the hunter class, but I kind of miss the days I would bust out my hunter/sniper and shoot at monsters in a smooth fluid rhythm. My hunter/sniper was agi bow, ankle snaring just to use a mali-bow on stuff with my trusty falcon going off a lot from good aspd.

I hate neglecting my ranger the way I do, but for now I don't have a lot of motivation to do much with it. Reading the commentary here makes me even less motivated to do anything with it XD Oh well~

Before RWH, I used Sould Stealer cotton shirt and it was enough. You can also use Moony dagger as well.

This is mainly thanks to low damage and/or spammability of Bow skills. Double Strafe is spammable, but have so-so damage mod, Arrow Shower have limited spammability and still weak damage Mod, Aimed Bolt have too freaky requirements to make full damage and too low damage and/or spammability for such prequisites to use it for full strenght, Arrow Storm have limited damage as well (Althrought postrebalance and with Mora set it will be quite fine in PvM).

Instant Cast, Blinding Mist, Allurio and your own pneuma gives sorcerers a huge advantage over Rangers. Me targeting your summon means your are free to do what you want.

@ShinWolf: What good is team work when you cannot contribute anything to the team? Not being able to kill is just 1 of the problems about this class. SC's still attack faster with a bow than a Ranger. A Chaser can completely replace a Ranger if they wanted to. Anything a ranger can do a chaser can do much more reliably. However chaser's don't play like a ranger because they have better things to do than be useless. If you disagree make one and see for yourself how useful you are in a party. Allies running through traps is inevitable with skills like Snap and Backslide allowing enemies to bypass your traps easily while it -_-blocks your allies that don't have said skills. Why would you rely on Ranger traps to stop enemies when Sorcs have Extreme Vacuum and Performer's new Song of Despair that doesn't affect allies. Also please tell me, you are not =Sniper Wolf=. If you are, well I see there is no point in trying to argue with you. I bet you probably never wondered why we, Valk guild, don't use our 3 150 Rangers in WoE except for Pres who has no other class to WoE with.

@Inubashiri:
The patch in no way helps the ranger be better at WoE/PvP or even endgame MVP/Partying heck the patch acutally does the opposite. Bow rangers get better in PVM; however, that's it. No party support. No unquie role that cannot be out done by another class. No boost to survivability.

@Weeeelium:
You should visit iROwiki forums. There are plenty of 150 Rangers and even ones with MVP and God items that will tell you how bad this class is.


Here are point form nots on why the ranger won't improve much with the balance patch.

Unchanging problems:
*Hunter traps including Ankle Snare still being destroyed in WoE by any Splash damage skill like Storm Blast and Dragon Breath makes this trap useless.
*You can still walk through multiple Ankle Snares.
*Traps destroying each other means no stacking traps for damage except Landmine.
*Traps damage and status allies too not just enemies.
*Rangers can only remove Hunter an Ranger traps.
*Most classes have either a skill to remove/destroy our traps or imobilization means nothing to them because of their range/instant movement skills.
*Melee reflect mechanics (Shield Reflect, Valk Manteau and Spell Shield) reflects trap damage back to the caster so trying to kill anyone with access to those means our deaths since we have a much lower HP pool.
*Aimed Bolt's damage isn't high enough to be worth releasing the target from a snare.
*Electric Shocker still does not affect boss monsters, so still useless in End Game PVM/MVP.
*Warg Bite being blockable by Guard, Parry and Weapon Blocking coupled with the fact that it is still hit reliant means that it is not 100%.
*Instant movement skills bypassing Snares and bite makes them almost useless.
*No defensive skills to disable damage dealers or reduce damage renders us the most vulnerable class in game and have no way of stopping someone from killing the EMP since we can neither kill them or disable them.
The nerfs:
*Hunter trap damage, casting time and delay nerfs makes hunter damage traps useless. They will be unplayable effectively making the 2nd class useless.
*Ranger trap damage nerf. GL killing with them after the patch especially if you are not a full on trap build.
*Warg Bite's extensive cooldown and greatly reduced duration makes this skill very unreliable especially when it can easily be evaded and countered.
The useless buffs:
*Snared Aimed Bolt is buffed (4500% at 60% + 6000% at 40%) but it is still much weaker than the spammable GoH (7500% + missing HP + current SP*75 + 1500) with longer casting time + delay and stricter concequesnces+retrictions. With the nerf to Bite's reliability using this skill in End Game is even less likely. Why use this skill to do lower damage than GoH and release the target from the snare? This skill has no use in leveling since it is all about mobbing. Also as of the latest kRO patch Bite doesn't even work in on monsters.
*Tripling Fear Breeze's damage output means nothing when it costs 17 skill points and none of those skills are needed/useful End Game. The DPS increase still cannot compare the screfices we make to get this skill.
The good buffs:
*Being able to use some skills in Camouflage makes bow rangers really good at solo level but provides nothing in PVP/WoE or party play. This skill is not a Cloak, players can see and kill you just fine.
*Dash gets Endure effect great for running away in pvp and pvm. This helps us be better at partying and WoE how?
*Elemental converters are really cheap. They only affect normals monsters...
*Arrow Storm is really good at 1 shotting your way to 150. Provides nothing else.
*The only good WoE buff we get is Electric Shocker draining up to 25% max SP per sec but this still affects our allies and has an animation to tell enemies that the trap is there. Not to mention 3 cell castine range.
*The only absolute buff that helps us in all forms of the game is Warg strike buff which metigates the Trap damage nerfs for WoE/PVP and allows Ctrl+Click Rangers better DPS in PVM.

Ctrl+Click Rangers will be able to do quite a bit of damage in WoE and kill noobs in PVP thanks to the warg strike buffs. But if your Guild can't handle someone will only 23k HP, no versatility and no defensive skills/equipment, that's just sad and you should find a better guild to WoE with. Here is a pic of my bow ranger on kRO. It is not trans so increase it's HP/SP by 25%. It is still as fragile as hell since it cannot afford to use reduction/HP gears if it wants to maintain 193 ASPD. 120 AGI is very costly.

Rangers are fun to play especially pvm. That fun ends once you reach end game and cannot do end game stuff as well as other classes. Untill we get Bio4 and new Seige/Bellum equipments WoEing with a Ranger remains unchanged and uneventful.



He summed it up pretty good here...WW set has made us sooooo good in PvP and WoE vs decent players right?

Rangers from the beginning were meant to be a disabling class (i.e traps, distractions with warg bite)not a killer class. The Classes Designed to be killers were Suras, Sorcerers, Warlocks, Rk'S, and RG's.
