When looking over my skill path plan I started to reconsider getting Comet. With that decision i started looking at Hellfire more closely and realized that it's mainly just a Shadow spell not really Fire since hopefully the Shadow kills them. I figure for Holy guys this would be Great.
However noticed several things that really seem to bad to be believed in a high level WarLock skill.
- NO AREA OF EFFECT. This damn skill seems to be a Single Target skill with no splash or AoE.
- NO BOOK. Seems this skill cannot be used via Reading & Release as it has no book available. Only other spell that doesn't have a book I think is Soul Expansion.
- About half the strength of other elemental spells for WL's. CR, CL, JFrost and Earth Strain all have significantly more damage to them and do multiple hits or AoE. SoulX does a bit less but it gets doubled via White Imprison.
Does anyone know if any of these are not true? Or is the skill still worth it with these negatives?
Is Hellfire any good PvM?

Thats all righ. For me its not a worthy skill aside as a prerrequisite. It cast fast, so having a book is not worth (small rehuse delay to). It causes burning status, usefull sometimes i guess.... Also holy property monsters use to have hell mdef and since renewal is all about mob killing, being 1 target doesnt help, so i wouldnt try to lvl with it.

Just another useless prerequisite.

It's so sad to hear that the only Shadow Element spell is worthless.

It's a pvp skill to annoy players with burning status, not really for damage. If we had alot more skill points i would get it just for the off chance it might be useful but as it is i can't justify getting it other than as a pre-req since we have plenty more annoying skills.

Not useful but kinda fun to use... as people said, for burning status at least xD

It's the kind of skill that's better suited for traditional MMOs that have cooldowns on healing items (allows for supplementary damage to chain DoTs). In a game like RO that allows players to spam the hell out of items, DoT skills and statuses lose a lot of their effectiveness.
