Dex - High (70-80 is typical)
Vit - High to Very High (100 total is a good target)
Agi - If you have room, it helps
Luk - Many park this at 1, some go a bit higher since early boosts are cheap. Anything over 30 is a definite waste though.
Str - Park at 1. Buy gym passes if you want carry capacity.
Initially, crank int over all else, later spread out more.
These stats (or similar) work for MOST mage builds. If you let us know where you tend to focus skill-wise, I can confirm if this will work or not (again, it *probably* will, but some builds take unusual stat setups.)

Int - Very High (90ish on a Lock, Sorc should probably max it or very close)
Dex - High (70-80 is typical)
Vit - High to Very High (100 total is a good target)
Agi - If you have room, it helps
Luk - Many park this at 1, some go a bit higher since early boosts are cheap. Anything over 30 is a definite waste though.
Str - Park at 1. Buy gym passes if you want carry capacity.
Mage classes don't need Agi. If you're mobbing, your flee will always be 0 anyway. The only time I would put Agi is on a Spellfist/Battle Sorcerer, and those builds are just for fun really...
INT should always be maxed on a mage class no matter what, NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
Luck raises 1 MAtk per 3 points. Yeah sure, it's not that important, but if you got Matk +% gears, there will be significant increases. This is also one of your primary defense stats along with Vitality so you can perfect dodge some attacks as well as avoid status ailments.

When making a new char set Int, Dex and Luk to 9 and the others to 1.
The fact is that no matter which path (Sage or Wiz) you will be leveling via your bolt spells and really need them to 1 hit ko the guys you fight. So this being said you get your Int all the way to 90 first thing (This can be achieved at lvl 61 base). After that you can start pumping your Dex and Vit up a bit. Which you do first depends on if you are doing any mobbing to lvl such as a Wiz might with it's AoE spells.
You will want to eventually get that Int upto 99 but the last 9 points can wait, unless you get a guy that just needs that little bit more in damage to kill.
