Just what i think, but it doesn't really look a lot like rose, maybe with the coloring on it it'll be different.
On designing part, as i have never done anything like that i have nothing to say.

i could go both ways, skinning could make it fit rose, or make it look even further from rose. dunno til i skin it i suppose. i made 3 other models aswell >.> a mace and another katar..

Something otherworldly would be good for once, either way it's your work so you decide how to further work on it

the katars i just made are kinda other wordly, unless you mean like lazer guns? xD im always up for ideas.
(look at my sig and my avatar, you might notice something in both of them) lol

I usually don't pay much attention so i likely won't find it anyway on the avatar, found an inexistant katar on the sig though xD.
And lazer guns would overdo it, though i'd love to see your works implemented XD

So would I, I'm just waiting to have a good 5-6 items to send in at once instead of constantly sending 1 item at a time haha, and yes, those katars in the sig are a pair of jaguar gloves, a few gold bars, some gold chains wrapping them together and two long mana crystals as spikes. I figured it was different.
