Having read through this mess of a thread, I can only say: Everyone, calm down.
The ales will be undergoing
constant reevaluation over the coming weeks, so please don't do anything rash, like trade-in too many, or buy too many/sell too many, sell your hat, etc. Just take a deep breath and stop raging for one minute (And I understand that may be difficult).
A lot of people here are acting like wall street speculators, buying or selling at the slightest bit of good or bad news. So first of all, stop that, and do things in moderation.
Yes, the healing skills and non-ale healing items
should have been buffed first (or at the same time as the ale nerf), but... with any luck, we will get a buff to normal HP & SP healing items very soon. In the mean time, WoE as best you can, and try to enjoy it despite the new adversity, and realize that everyone else in WoE will be in the same situation and position as you. No one will be able to ale hard, so no one will have an enormous advantage, and by extension, one-shot and two-shot skills will most likely happen a lot less frequently, negating the complaint of not being able to pot through them quickly enough.
Yes, some things were done too quickly, and that's unfortunate, but if everyone is
patient, and if everyone talks through it in a
calm and
respectful manner, then I'm sure we can all get through this trying period safely.
GM Team, I hate to sound like a broken record, since you guys have already heard this a lot in previous posts, but please slow down. Please make wide-reaching changes more gradual, rather than sudden.
For example, rather than doubling EMB prices, increase them little by little each week (or biweekly) until the target price is reached. An instant doubling is too much, and makes people speculate too much, and leaves them guessing ("should I trade my badges this week? wait for next week?" "should I buy ales now? should I wait?"). If things are done just a little more slowly, then
there will be less of that type of speculation, and consequently, less rage.
So yes, nerf the ales, yes,
but please don't forget to
double the healing skills and triple the non-ale/non-ygg recovery items first, or at the same time as the nerf. If you had buffed the non-ale restorative items first, and then nerfed the ales later,
and made sure to inform people ahead of time that that is what you would do, then you would have made the anger level a small fraction of where it's currently at.
If you folks would just take the alterations a little bit more slowly, and give just a little bit more advanced notice, then a lot of grief (on both your part and the player base's part), would be avoided. So I beg you to take things just a little more gradually, so that everyone will suffer less.
