the upgrading system is very confusing to me as a newer player...can I upgrade with Enriched Ori and a Safe to 7? If so, where?

Is there a comprehensive guide for this somewhere?

You can upgrade an equipment from +4 to +7 using Safe Certificate (Weapon, Body Armor or Headgear) and Normal Elunium or Oridecon.
Go to Eden Headquarter 2nd floor and talk to Mighty Hammer. He will give you an option to upgrade your desired equipment using Safe Certificate. Keep in mind that upgrades with Safe Certificate prevents the equipment from breaking, and the certificate will disappear after one upgrade attempt regardless of success or failure.

If your item is already +7 and your using the new refiner you dont need to have the certs if your weapon falls below +7, assuming you started at +7 and are using enriched ores and did't do anything to disrupt the NPC dialog from continuing.

I was confused with it at first as well. But it's identical to the HD refiner, but stops at +9 instead of +10. And higher rates.

+0 - +4 = Normal Elu/Ori
+5 - +7 = Normal Elu/Ori (Can break), Enriched Elu/Ori (Can break), Safe to 7 (Cannot break)
+8 - +9 = Enriched Elu/Ori (Current Event, cannot break), HD Elu/Ori (Cannot break)
+10 = HD Elu/Ori (Cannot break)
+11 - +20 = Bradium/Carnium (May break, may lose 3 refine levels), HD Bradium/Carnium (Cannot break, cannot go lower than +10)

ex:
+4 to +5 = one certificate?

+5 to +6 = one certificate?

+6 to +7 = one certificate?

or i just need one certificate to +7?

Safe to 7 allow you to upgrade gears to 7 (maxed at 7) without breaking your gears. It will NOT break your gears if you fail.

Enriched Elu/Ori allow you to upgrade from +7 to +9 at a high chance without breaking your gears if you fail.

Both save to 7 certs and enriched ores can fail, but cannot break your gears.
