I apologize if this can be found somewhere but I am unsure what to search for to locate my answer.
If you have a +7 weapon and then use HD Ori - can your weapon go below +7 with a fail (i.e., will it go to +6)? If it can go below +7 then can it break when using the HD Ori? Is there a link that explains the refinement system? I am interested in learning more.

I hate sending people to another link so i'll just spoon feed you.
Once your weapon is at +7 and use HD Ores:
If successful upgrades your weapon by one. +7 -> +8
If failure downgrades your weapon by one. +7 -> +6
Using HD Ores. Your weapon or armour won't break by failure but downgrades your weapon refinement.
You can still use HD Ores as long as the conversation with Mighty Hammer is UP. Even your equipment is degraded to +3 you can still continue using HD Ores via Mighty Hammer
(Noting you can only start refining with Mighty Hammer at +7)
